Hey, would you mind going into detail on what your playing field is composed of?

What are the level 1s and 2s made of?
What do the red hexes represent?
What do the dots represent?
Did you guys build those different hex play areas?

thanks!

Actually MoparMessiah created these terrain boards, but 'll do my best to answer some of the questions. I'm sure he'll be by to answer your questions as well.

1) All leveled hexes, including the hex board itself are made from styrofoam.
2) Not sure what the red hexes or the hexes with the white dots represent. I know the blue hexes represented a narrow river for this scenario.

Hope some of this helps. I'll see if I can get you some answers for the questions I couldn't answer.

I built the terrain pictured and I call it MoparHex 2.0  :D

I probably should do a tutorial on how it went together.  All of the supplies to build it came from Home Depot and Michaels other that the flocking and trees.

The sides are wood base board about 2 1/4" tall.  The bottom is very thin particle board with a 2" foam core and then another thin sheet of particle board.  The top is then covered in Bondo body filler.  The whole thing is then painted in concrete floor epoxy.  Then that is coated with 5 coats of magnetic paint.  Then paint the top in a base color (green, brown red or whatever).  Then flock lightly.

The level one hill is 1" foam and the Level 2 is 2" foam.  All are topped with the magnetic paint and base color.  The hills and other features have magnets to hold them to the board.

The red hexes mean nothing.  That board is the base for the Desert Mountain board.  The white dots are there to show where the mountains go.  That way you can set it up without having to look at the paper map.

I built everything myself.  I currently have 7 boards built - two city boards (black) , one lava river, two green hills and two desert mountains.

A Quick Reminder -
Game Schedule for NorCal Battletech Players

Just a friendly reminder for anyone searching for some Battletech game in the Bay Area.
The next game will be 3/15/15 at 10:30am at Endgame.

Hi All,
Just checking to see who else might be interested in attending next month's game, besides our regular group that meets on a monthly basis.

If you can't meet at Endgame in Oakland, what area/venue is ideal for you?

Hi McSlayer,

At GameKastle, right?
Do you guys have regular games there? How many players meet for those games?

There is also a small group of us that play at the Game Kastle in Fremont the middle two Saturdays of every month. If anyone is in the Livermore area I can host a game.

Hi Caleb,

I'm on the other side of the Altamont. It would be nice to find a gaming venue around there.

I wouldn't exactly call it a venue but I've got plenty of space to host. Just recently got back into BT after a 16 year break. I've started playing with the guys down at Game Kastle but it would be great to be able to have a random game close to home. Let me know what your schedule is like and we can put something together.

We do a big Alpha Strike game at KublaCon in Burlingame - not that far from MTV

We could use some more practice - email me and I can see if we can get a game together
