(Answered) CO - Technology Rating/Equipment Rating Calculation

This is the whole section between page 161 and 163 (where the tables are).

1. I can't seem to get a force above Rating C (even a 100% Front Line Clan-Tech force).
2. Where does the 2.2 modifier from the second equation on page 162 come from?
3. The example is the first place in this entire section where it mentions increments of 10 above 30. Where should this be first mentioned, as it comes out of no where. What am I missing?

If I have a force of 25 'Mechs, all Clan Front Line, I get (25/25) x 100 x 2 = 200.
200 - 30 = 170.
170 / 10 = 17
17 + 30 = 47
47 = Equipment Rating C.

If I have a force of 1000 'Mechs, all Society Tech, I get (1000/1000) x 100 x 3 = 300.
300 - 30 = 270.
270 / 10 = 27
27 + 30 = 57
57 = Equipment Rating C.

How do you get above a C? Why did this change from the Chaos Campaign version which made sense?

Hi, sorry to have not gotten to this.  The author that wrote these rules is sadly no longer with the company, which makes it difficult to provide an answer.  We'll see about figuring this out, but I'm afraid it will likely take quite a while (as you've likely noticed).  Our apologies.

REPLACE:
"Inner Sphere Standard Rules units = (6 / 12) x 100 x 1.5 =
75 percent
Clan Standard Rules units = (2 / 12) x 100 = 16.67 x 2.2 =
36.67 percent
Added together, the total percentage of units with
Standard Rules Inner Sphere/Clan technology is thus 111.67
percent (rounding down to 111 percent). This exceeds 30
percent by 81.67 percent, or eight full 10 percent increments.
The unit therefore has a 40-point Technology Rating.
Comparing the 40 points against the Equipment Rating
Table results in a D Equipment Rating."


WITH:

Clan Standard Rules units = (2 / 12) x 100 = 16.67 x 2 = 33.33 percent
Added together, the total percentage of units with
Standard Rules Inner Sphere/Clan technology is thus 83.33 percent. As this is less than 85 percent, the unit therefore has a B Technology Rating Modifier."
