Printing from MML
« on: 19 March 2017, 20:29:31 »
I am having a horrible time attempting to print from MML on my MacBook Pro. When I use SSW, I can preview the record sheet and it prints out nicely, but I can't make it work with MML. When I print, I get a blank page. I can't seem to make the print to file work either. I haven't downloaded any additional files beyond MQH 0.42.1.

macOS Sierra 10.12.3
MekHQ 0.42.1
Canon MG5500 series
Java 8 Update 121

What am I doing wrong? I'm sure its obvious and simple.

Thanks!

Couple of things that would help us out.  Is there anything in the log, also what units are you trying to print.

Stormcrow and Clan Elemental Battle Armor (Small Laser). I run all my MHQ programs from the terminal command line.

No output, just a blank page out of the printer and no file generated.

Here's the log file:

OK, so I downloaded an independent copy of MML (0.42.1). I load up Elemental Point (Laser) and select Print > Current Unit from the menu bar and get "No Print Service Found". I also loaded up a Cerberus MR-V3, same error.

However, if I put units in the Queue, they print fine.

I'm using:
Java Version 8 Update 121
macOS Sierra 10.12.3
MegaMekLab 0.42.1 (independent download)

Sorry, we are still trying to trouble shooting this.  But hunting around google I found reference to the error in relation to PDFs and they suggested looking into the printing preferences.

Not a Mac user so not sure what they are referencing.  Assuming its an OS setting somewhere.

Has there been any update on this?

I just downloaded 42.2 today and received the same error message (No Print Service) when trying to print elementals. However, I could not print the elemental sheet regardless of what runarounds I did.

I too am running a Mac:
 - OSX version 10.12.5.
 - Java Version 8 Update 141

The only thing that was looked at was a bug in the packaging of the pieces that make up the Record Sheets.  You'd need to test 0.43.3 to see if that works.

I don't believe MML can print battlearmor (that's one thing that really needs to be improved: informing the user when they are trying to print an unsupported unit).  Have you tried printing other units?

MML can indeed print battle armor and infantry, but only one squad / point / platoon per page.

I've got a handle on how to fix that, and it's something I'd like to work on, if I can ever get some time.

I was able to print an Elemental [Laser] record sheet from 0.43.3 on my macBook Pro, thank you guys.

Couple of questions to manipulate the record sheet to make it ready for play, in MML.
1. Can I set the Gunnery and Anti-Mech skills in MML or just fill them in by hand after printing?
2. Can I set the ammo for the SRM-2? The printed record sheet has Ammo 0.

Thanks for the assist!

I was just trying to print today from MHQ, and it would print everything except anything aero (crashed the system every time I tried). It printed multiple infantry per page and beside aero only "issue" is that it did not print infantry in order, has unit 1, 4, 9, 10, and 12 on page one (does not matter to me).

MML currently doesn't allow you to adjust gunnery/piloting/anti-mech.

You should be able to customize the unit in MML to set the amount of ammo.  Does the unit have ammo prior to printing?
