Diorama "The Fall of Donegal"
« on: 30 September 2017, 19:03:54 »
This was for a contest entry incorporating an Urbanmech and an apocalypse theme.

In February of 3070, the Word of Blake launched a full scale assault on the planet Donegal. The 1st Donegal Jaegers rose to defend the planet but the treacherous use of nuclear weapons on multiple facilities proved too overwhelming for the Lyrans.

The smaller non-BT tanks, pickup truck, and infantry are from GHQ
The civilian cars are from ebay
The tank turrets are magnetized
All the Mechs(except the Ostroc) have alternate hex bases and magnets so they're tabletop playable
Variants are as follows: Vedette Cell, Ostroc 5W, Urbanmech AIV, Bushwacker L1

Um...forget an attachment?

Sounds like a cool diorama though. :D

EDIT: And the images all showed up after I posted. XD
Hot Damn! Those are some sweet looking minis. Those Wobbies are some of the best white painting I've seen in a long time. (I shudder to think how long it took you to do the checkerboard on the Lyran units.) That's a really beautiful diorama!

This is a wonderful diorama.

If I may ask, how did you get the names on the various units?  And do you have any tips for doing the checkerboard pattern for the Alliance Jaegers?

So great.

Love the mod on the Urbie.  Starting to believe this mini needs a resculpt though.

Thanks, and I print my own decals using testors decal paper for basic black symbols and words. Use a mechanical pencil to sketch the checker grid, it helps a lot.

I've been wanting to do something similar with a couple set of minis that I have had the last 20 years or so.  I guess now that I am living in a real house with a garage workshop, I don't have many excuses left as to why I am not doing it.

And do you have any tips for doing the checkerboard pattern for the Alliance Jaegers?

Spray any not needed decal with checkers color, cut it with blade and metal ruler for squares, and then - just apply decal over mini :) Fix it later with varnish.
