Built for a story idea which marauder wrote for my AU.  This ship was designed by Maingunnery.  My thanks to you both

Overview
Based on the hull of an ancient Cruiser-class Cruiser, TAS Leander, the MS Gomar
Explorer this ship was recovered by the Belters in the Sol system's Kuiper Belt
in 3111. Finding a hull devoid of weapons but structually intact the Belters went
about converting the hull into a more useful vessel.

Capabilities
Unlike the original vessel the new class is not designed to fight but instead it
has been modiified to exploit asteroids in the Kuiper Belt and help the Belters
expand their facilities.

With minimal weapons the Explorer's capabilities lie in its cargo bay.  There
the ship has enough small craft and WorkerMechs to set up a small mining colony.
The ancient DropShuttle bay actually launches a small mining station helping get
a new colony started almost immediately after the Explorer had done initial work.

Four additional DropShip collars gives the ship additional capabilities to
support operations.  While almost 100,000 tons of cargo space allow the Explorer
to keep operational for extended periods.

To help with operations and to allow the crew to be comfortable all of the
Explorer's crew quarters are classed as First class quarters.  Three gravity
decks provide the crew with a healthy enviroment when the ship is on station.

Deployment
Only a single Explorer-class vessel is known to exist, the Gomar Explorer, after
the Belters salvaged the original hull.  The vessel is known to move through the
Sol System's Belt assisting in setting up mining colonies and keeping Belters
colonies working correctly.

The Belters plan to build three more vessels based on the plans obtained when
building the original Explorer-class vessel.

I just realised one thing, the Cruiser is a very short ship, at 240 meters long so with all this onboard, she's going to be cramped as all hell.  Maybe the belters do what was done to WW1 warships that were heavily modernized and put in a hull 'plug' to extend the length of the ship.  Mayhaps they do that here, give her another 100 meters and that big cylinder body will have even more internal space and not feel quite so cramped.

Or they cut open the sides and add modules onto the hull

The capital missiles being removed would open up the space too
