Neat. Which legs are those?

Shadow Hawk head and upper torso, Griffin arms, Wolverine lower torso and legs. I have always played under the assumption that Franken'Mechs were fairly common during the 3rd Succession War.

Not just then and there: evidently one of the Wolverines in Betrayl of Ideals had transitioned to a Pulverizer from a "Shadow Griffin " FrankenMech.

Overview: The Chimera was created from battlefield salvage in 3024 by Subotai O'Malley, a brilliant young Team Banzai 'Mech technician. Piecing together parts and sections from a Shadow Hawk, a Wolverine and a Griffin, O'Malley built a BattleMech capable of matching any 'Mech in its weight class.

Capabilities: The Chimera's battlefield performance is similar to that of the ubiquitous Griffin, with the following noted differences.  The Holly SRM 2 launcher provides the short range punch that the Griffin lacks. It's capability to manage its heat is more problematic than the other 55 tonners it was built from. It also has less LRM endurance with only half the ammo capacity of the Griffin.  Unlike most FrankenMechs, the Chimera was handcrafted with care and perfection in mind by its creator and therefore does not have many of the flaws common with such cobbled together 'Mechs. Its ability to torso twist actually exceeds that of most other BattleMechs due to the custom torso linkage that joins the Shadow Hawk and Wolverine halves together. Intentional or not, the Chimera's mixed paint scheme derived from the different 'Mechs it was created from makes it easily identifiable as a FrankenMech. This has led to several battlefield encounters where opposing MechWarriors underestimated the Chimera, expecting it to be a barely functional, jury-rigged machine.  There are no plans to change the 'Mech's appearance.

Variants: None. Unique 'Mech.

Notable MechWarriors: MechWarrior Subotai O'Malley - An orphan and war refugee from Galtor III, O'Malley joined Team Banzai in his teens through Dr. Banzai's apprentice program. Young Subotai's talent with 'Mech technology soon earned him a promotion to full Technician, but he dreamed of being a MechWarrior.  Allowed a great deal of latitude with the BattleMech salvage brought in to the New Avalon Institute of Science, O'Malley built his Chimera with the utmost care.  At its unveiling, the Doctor was so impressed with its ingenuity that Subotai was granted a slot in a Blue Blazer battalion Recon Lance.  MechWarrior O'Malley has already achieved three 'Mech victories after less than a year into the appointment.
