I wish the Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries variant of the Commando had been canonized.

Is that the one with the dual Gauss rifles?

A dual-Gauss Rifle Commando?

No, it drops the SRM 4 to add two more medium lasers and armor.

It's one of my favorites although sometimes I'd prefer one more laser and another ton of SRM ammo.

Just a quick note that any ideas i had about writing about the Celestial OmniMechs will be cancelled without further notice. I just won't be having time (or interest) to write about them anytime soon. BattleTech video game won't help any :D (Maybe for Christmas but this ain't a promise.)

Still got Thanatos and Tian-Zong articles ready to post as needed, though PMing me might be needed for me to notice stuff, unsure how actively i'll be frequenting the board. I'll write about the Bombardier later this year for sure.

Summer kinda throws a wrench in any and all plans, somehow.

We don't seem to be having any article for this week?
Shall i post Tian-zong or Thanatos, or does someone else having something going up late?

Been doing research on the Hyena and the Diomede, but don't think I could have either ready for today with a sick kid.

I'd be willing to take a stab at writing an article for at least one Celestial.  If the audience doesn't think that my trial run is wretched or horrible and time allows for it in the future, I could possibly write others.

No one I think will stand in your way.  Just say which you want to start with, so no one duplicates your work unnecessarily.

Do be mindful, you may not want to go first of the series, or you may want to do it at a time when you or another author is working on another in the series, because I feel it can be desirable to talk about the Celestial series in the proper context (see the recent article on the Cephalus, which puts it in the context of the Society forces very nicely).  Now, that's a super high standard and no one will hold you to it, to be sure.  But, if you really want to challenge yourself, then I think that's the challenge.  I've done the series in the past, so I could lend a hand, or do one of the mechs you don't, if you would like.

As to next week, I'll take it with the Great Wyrm.  After that, up in the air.

I was giving some thought to doing either the Grigori and/or Deva.  Does anyone have a preference on either one they would want to see first?

About the Celestials, i'll note that 3 of them are already covered. Archangel, Seraph and Deva are covered, by Kopfjager (who hasn't been around since 2014). Malak has an alpha strike article.

Personally i thought about writing about each one (thus doubling for the already covered ones) because that way they all would have consistent tone, and i'd have an "introductory" article for them as well. Neatly covering seven days.
I don't think neither intro article nor consistent tone are necessary though.

I'll post the Tian-zong in a moment, i just need to fire up my other computer...

Ouch, looks like i forgot to do some editing before finishing writing the Tian-zong article... Edits might appear...

EDIT Hmph. Not my finest article, but passable. Somewhat disjointed perhaps, but not going to re-arrange everything now.

Grigori it is then.  I have been giving some thought this afternoon about an intro piece to tie things together with other designs.  Was there ever a previous article on the MD done reviewing their various cybernetic implants?

I have a draft put together for the Grigori.  If anyone wants to provide constructive criticism I'll be happy to send it to them to review.

So who's got something ready for this week? I don't recall seeing any claims on this week, so I thought I'd get the conversation rolling before we get to Friday & the weekend.

I'd mentioned my intentions for this week in my post of the 27th, but if someone else is chomping at the bit, I won't deny them.

Double-checking Iron Mongoose's post  ;) it looks like nothing's set in stone for this week. How are everyone's articles coming along? Anyone have something ready and a strong desire to post it?

If not I have one ready, but it might bury everyone with the text involved, 4250 words according to MS Word.

Hey don't worry about. A Master's program is definitely more important than this.

You'd think so, but my heart's not in it.  I'm really just trying to squeeze the last few months out of my GI Bill payments out of the government....  Still, have to pass the classes or else the government takes the money back and it's already been spent on stuff like rent and groceries.

Is it at least something useful? Last time a friend from the boards took a break for a masters, it was to study Coptic language.

As to articles, if you look closely, buried in my post four pages back you'll see... I got nothing.
