(Answered) Orbit to Surface Fire
« on: 30 September 2011, 18:03:45 »
According to the download [http://www.classicbattletech.com/downloads/SO_Page105.pdf]here[/http://www.classicbattletech.com/downloads/SO_Page105.pdf], capital missiles, autocannon, and lasers all have the ability to target hexes. In conversation elsewhere in this forum, I saw another poster comment that only cannon and lasers can breach the space/atmosphere interface. The poster didn't provide a reference and I couldn't find that in the erata. This calls into question whether PWSs like the Excalibur, OverlordA3, Leopard PWS, Union PWS, etc can provide orbital bombardment capability. I think that's a handy capability to have available to a unit and would make otherwise incredibly weak units like the Excalibur PWS much more valuable (particularly Barricudas/tele-operated missiles).

I appreciate if you could clears this up for me. Thank you.

Anything that has the range, can fire from Orbit.

Sub-Capital equipped DropShips can also fire from High Altitude.
