I'm on solo kiddo duty this weekend, so it looks like Anna and I will once again be cameo-only appearances. But my daddy credit is at an all-time high, so as long as the Nov. game isn't the weekend before Thanksgiving, I'm very likely to make that one. Whatever we decide on it being...

I'm jumping my highest hurdle yet for this physical therapist assistant program.... Gotta do my Practical to see if they can put me in clinics. May be free in November though.

Next date: December 2. November was booked solid.

Still, especially for people who can't or haven't made the regular events, I don't mind plotting something smaller; we can prob find an empty table for like a 1 on 1 game, Kitsune. Haven't seen you in forever, so I'd be happy to give that a spin if it'd work for you.

Life is rough right now. They'll give me two weeks to learn the origins, insertions, innervations and actions of every muscle in your leg. Which probably wouldn't be a daunting task for someone with more anatomy classes in the past. But it's locking me down.

After November 1st things look like they are a little downhill. So I might be able to swing over on a Friday night or a Saturday.

Just have to get through tomorrow.

Thoughts on what the plan will be for the game?

Yep, just drop a note here or in PM.

Good luck! Sounds like a daunting task!

Thoughts on what the plan will be for the game?

I was sparse on players and feedback yesterday, but I have the impression most people prefer a campaign of some sort, so will work towards that.

If anyone who attends the events has a different preference you haven't voiced yet, now's the time!

Sorry to whole who couldn't make December 2nd!

Next session: Saturday January 13, noon through 6!

Warrior House Lu Sann has been tasked to conquer Tera Firma in 3066. So far, things are not going according to plan. During insertion, the defenders had far more aerospace assets than the Capellans anticipated, causing the House to become scattered. The first target was the Starport, but the lead company of the House wisely decided to divert to a different target: a nearby satellite control center. Capturing it might yield valuable intelligence, and perhaps create a chance to reconnect with the rest of the unit.

The defenders of the Fist of Mokal were outmatched by the superior skills and numbers of the Warrior House, but benefited from artillery support. They were also able to rapidly redeploy additional lances in support. Despite this, the Warrior House was poised to succeed in their objective, when the Fist called down their artillery directly on the satellite control facility, denying its benefits.

This promises to be a difficult campaign.

Lu Sann disengaged and formed up to hunt down a tertiary target spotted on the way down: a small formation of 'Mechs out in the field. Swiftly inflicting losses on the Fist may yet yield momentum back to the Warrior House. But their challenges are significant. While a platoon of FaShih was able to join them, they still lack contact with the second 'Mech Company, and the rest of the Infantry battalion. Their DropShip has also withdrawn along with the Capellan escorts, making supply and repair a difficult proposition.

But there is hope: there continues to be a dedicated ZhangZheng du Guang resistance movement on planet. And the Fist may find itself regretting the speed with which they destroyed their own assets.
And worst of all for the rebels in control of Terra Firma: they face a Warrior House.

For those who couldn't make it:
Most players will continue to be placed among the Warrior House, which has top-of-the-line Capellan 'Mechs of 3066. Below is the orbat of the command company. That's right, you're getting some really shiny toys.

Bah. I gave you guys that one by accident a few years early in my old campaign (and then failed repeatedly to 'correct' the mistake!). Go on, throw 'em a bone!  ;D

Also, a note that this weekend is the prerelease tournaments for the new MTG set, with events at 7 a.m., 11 a.m., and 4 p.m. Table space may be at a premium, but we'll make do like always.

There will be a pre-game battle this Saturday for early-arrivals - a three-way fight between elements of a Capellan militia, a biker gang, and paramilitary vigilantes - starting at 10:30.

Well THERE'S a combo. Post an after-action on that, I'm curious how well a biker gang holds up to a 31st century militia force!

It helps when the militia just has Scorpion tanks and the bikers have miniguns in the sidecars.

These dates are very good dates. Much better than bad dates. (Img: dead monkey from Indiana Jones.)

EDIT: Also, I need the 3/31 game to be Easter themed in some way. Jackrabbits or something.

I only stayed until 4 p.m., so someone will have to pick up the thread:

The CapCon 'Mechs walked onto the map (2 x 2 sheets) to find the enemy units they hoped to run down were in fact a Level II of Word of Blake Mechs. (Guillotine, Wyvern, Shootist, Grand Crusader, Bombardier, Crab, all C3i.)

Even with the Wyvern and Guillotine spotting for the other Blakist forces  clustered around a Level 3 hill, the Capellans were able to weave their way through the terrain mostly unmolested. Their return fire mangled the Guillotine rather well--nothing like hitting both plasma rifle shots at 11s!

The Capellans reached the midpoint of the field when a lance of local resistance Mechs combat-dropped into their backfield. (Anvil, Ostsol, Specter and something I can't remember.) Their surprise attack jacked up the Yu Huang but didn't drop it; on the next turn, the Specter booked, the Anvil was heavily damaged and surrendered, and IIRC something else died, but I wasn't sitting at that end of the field.

The Blakists advanced slightly to try to get some quality shots, and did some internal damage to the Ti Ts'ang's already damaged right leg. But as the Cappies mopped up the last of their surprise intruders, they turned their attention back to the Blakists...

...and that's about the time I split.
