You all probably know these tricks, but maybe a new painter won't. The presenter does a lot of special effects work, so the knowledge may not transfer over completely, but the more you know, right?

Thanks for posting the video. It is a good start I think.

I clean my paintbrushes with a solvent too, but after that I then clean the brush with water. Reason being, some washes are alcohol based and over time will dry out the bristles of the brush. By adding the second water wash to the brush really reduces the chance of the bristles drying out. I have some high priced brushes that I have had for almost 20 years that are just as good the day I got them.

The best thing for a hobby painter to do for their brushes is to use a brush soap/conditioner. Here's a video I've made explaining that.
