Is a quad sidestep a turn? Aka turning on pavement.
« on: 16 August 2017, 18:26:35 »
I was playing a game on 43.3 and an interesting thing happened.
I was playing on a heavily forested map with a road running through it.
One of my mechs with the Maneuvering Ace SPA ran out of the forest and onto the road.
It then used the road to move through forest but did a sidestep along the road to keep it's facing.
The interesting thing was I was not required to make a piloting check for turning on pavement.
The mech does not move in a strait line but it seems that a sidestep is not counted as a turn per say.

I don't know if there is a rule saying that sidesteps on pavement don't require piloting checks, or if it is an oversight in MegaMek.

So I guess I am asking if anyone knows one way or the other and if the board thinks that it should require a piloting check.

Thanks.

Total War p62 says a skid can occur if you make a facing change on a paved hex while running/flanking, so I think you are all good. The sidestep isn't changing your facing.
