Overview
During the scientist purge of the Coyotes in 3108, the Sea Foxes were contracted to keep hidden and safe a small group of scientists working on updating the SLDF’s Barracude MCMLS to clan use and standards.  They were successful.  The Coyotes, without shipyards of their own, traded the specifications of the weapon to the Sea Foxes in return for a significant portion of the output of the Jarnfolk warship yards over the next 10 years.

The Foxes immediately took advantage of the new system, with a half dozen Hakaze-class escort destroyers already in the construction slips being modified to mount the new weapon system.  Fitting the much more massive Frenzy mounts into the previous AR-10’s was not possible without modifications to the structure of the warship.  The end result was a decrease in the strength of the structure by about 20%, but this also opened up space to upgrade the Lithium Fusion Batteries to Mk. IIs.  The first six Hakaze IIs ended up being rough and somewhat cobbled together, but future warships will be build with the proper specs in mind, redubbing the Hakaze II into the Isurus-class Missile Destroyer.

Capabilities
In many ways the Isurus is just a massive overhaul of the original Hakaze-class Escort Destroyer, but has some significant changes.  The most obvious is a massive change in the aspect of the warship, it no longer looks like a beached whale, instead taking on a sleeker aspect, more akin to its namesake.  The weapon suite itself has not changed dramatically, other than being able to launch more than twice the number of missiles the Hakaze-class could.  The Medium NPPCs were downgraded to Light NPPCs but are still a significant threat to dropships and lighter warships.  Meanwhile the subcapital weapons are unchanged, but AMS are added for some level of defense and to help intercept missiles heading towards their charge.

The Isurus appears to fill its role very well, the four Frenzy launchers have the capability of annihilating even a full star of opposing fighters, while also proving to be a significant threat to warships as Clan Nova Cat found out, much to their chagrin.  The quad-mounted Light NPPCs seem to work nearly as well as the mediums they replaced, they still frequently annihilate dropships quickly, though on occasion they do require multiple strikes before succumbing to the destroyer’s firepower.

Taken in a vacuum, the secondary weapons appear almost an afterthought on this design, only coming into play when opposing fighters manage to make it through the storm of capital missiles, which even against most carriers is a daunting task.  More often these weapons are combined with the anti-missile systems making their formidable defenses even stronger.

This is the first class the Foxes have begun producing which includes the Mark II version of lithium fusion batteries.  As the Foxes themselves are rarely in a need to get somewhere fast, these appear to be a nod to their mercantile nature, making these vessels more useful to the more combat oriented clans.

Deployment
The first half dozen Isurus-class destroyers have left the shipyards of the Jarnfolk Shipyards in late 3110 and have been spread amongst many of their khanates, with at least one going to the Coyotes.  The Predator Khanate was sent to Falaknuma with supplies to strengthen the world’s economy.  With the saKhan gone, and clan-built supplies drawing low, the commander of the Nova Cat’s Upsilon galaxy demanded a portion of the supplies Poseidon and it’s attendant vessels carried.  Seeing an opportunity to showcase their new warship, the Foxes suggested a warship trial to first damage to internal structure, bidding the Mastera next to the Predator against the Nova Cat’s Tiglon.  The massive waves of missiles took a toll on the Tiglon’s aerospace contingent forcing them to stand down after only 3 salvos, the Tiglon itself then closed with the warships, relying on its not insignificant anti-missile suite.  Prior to getting into effective range, a full barrage of 40 barracuda missiles bore down on it, completely overwhelming it's AMS and with more than 20 strikes suffered significant damage to internal systems, including damage to it’s targeting computer and engines.  With the trial over, the Foxes offered the supplies at a higher than typical rate, which Upsilon’s galaxy commander grudgingly agreed to pay.  Having now seen it in action, the Nova Cats, Falcons, and Wolves have all placed orders, while the other clans are looking towards the destroyer with a wary and interested eye.

She's a fearsome lass for sure!  Very nice design, where can one find the rules for her Frenzy launchers?

She nice, Frenzy MCMLS helps. I'm glad it's not the standard Barracuda version, that was useless.  #P

That was a prototype... it was supposed to be useless ::) Vition2 continued to evolve it leading to the current version.

The more I think about it, the more I think that the Frenzy is going to cause a significant shift in how warships fight - a fairly large number of ASF are going to need to stay behind to work on destroying incoming missiles or else risk significant damage to the warship.  Carrier warships may become more necessary in both offensive and defensive roles in larger battles.  It's also possible that future warships will begin to eschew AMS in lieu of fighter protection, concentrating their weaponry into nearly entirely offensive roles and pushing much closer to how the warships were built during the age of the Star League.

I'd say the other way I think they will have larger AMS arrays I.e. Leviathan III styled and aided with Barracudas

EDIT also if you add in the assault DropShips that are pretty common in the AU then the Frenzy probably makes capital missiles usable in combat.  The first battle it was in it took its enemy by surprise - in the future it's pretty simple enemies who see a ship carrying it target at range and keep their escorts close.  It simply adds a layer of tactics to a battle
