half MPs ?
« on: 06 October 2017, 08:10:32 »
someone has suggested "half movement points" for BT units, yes?  Round up half MPs, and round down quarters...

e.g.
Walk / Run / Sprint
3 / 5 / 6
4 / 5 / 7
4 / 6 / 8
5 / 7 / 9
5 / 8 / 10
6 / 8 / 11
6 / 9 / 12
7 / 10 / 13
7 / 11 / 14
8 / 11 / 15
8 / 12 / 16
etc.

affords the unit designer more options :)

So?
Could I mount a 275 in an Atlas for 2.75 Walking Points?
This would be 3 for walking and 4 for running and 6 for sprinting?

Movement Points inherit the scale - you can also say that moving into a new clear hex might cost 2 BP.
This would allow better "values" without round up and round down lottery.

So a Atlas with 300 Engine would have 6 BP walking 9 BP Running and 12 BP sprinting.
You might tweak stuff like turning (for example turning while walking = 1BP; turning while running = 2BP turning while sprinting = 3BP)

Yes, I think you multiplied correctly:

2.75 /  4.125 / 5.5 --> 3 / 4 / 6

Maybe you could factor movement rate into initiative rolls ?  Faster units are more responsive, earning more of a bonus ?

Yes, actually that's a really cool idea, too...

turns out you generally get at least one point of Walk/Run/Sprint MP increase with "quarters (1/4, 2/4 = 1/2, 3/4) and thirds (1/3, 2/3)" of MP, also.

e.g. that Atlas could mount a 235-engine for 2 1/3rd MP --> "2 / 4 / 5" W/R/S movement
