Is there any good character generators out there?  I'm struggling to keep track of all that needs to happen in order to make a character.  I want to introduce a short game of a time of war to my tabletop gaming group but I know that unless I can make it easier to make characters they are gonna give up and quit in the middle of it.

There is not.

My (extremely late) advice would be to either use Point-Buy, or to start with an Archetype, and modifying it.
