People were commenting on lack of townhall, guess they still needed to release 'Mechs though. Standard pack has three variants (Prime, A and B) reinforcement add-on adds C and P (Streak SRM 4, LRM 10 in left arm, UAC/10 right arm, ER medium and small in right torso, one ton of ammo for each wep)

Ack! Sorry, but i don't I think it's looks as good as the actual mech.  Too flatish angled lines for me.

Wow, another solid redesign from FlyingDebris!

I wonder how they will calculate head shots on this mech? The center pane of the cockpit glass is a huge target.
At Comstar we listen. It's that simple.

Overall it looks a lot better than the source material.  I'm not sure about the leg design change though.  I'm fine with the smaller feet, but it went from man-walker to...  Hrm, I can't think of the word for it...

Much better looking than the original for sure.  Then again whilst that TRO gave us some evil (to the point of munchkin) mechs, the artwork for it was...hrm...

Digitgrade? Invading Clans image it was very distinctly humanoid legs, but the TRO:3058 art gave it toes which is what seems to have resulted in digitgrade legs for MWO apparently, much like how the Commando half-face and the reverse jointed legs of the Mech Commander Enfield both occurred, overly slavish adaption of one specific image and its quirks.

I took another look at the original TRO art and you're right.  I totally understand why Alex did what he did.  That's actually pretty cool  O0

Cool. I'm actually pretty excited to run close combat configs on this thing-after running around in a Hunchie IIC, I'm excited for a combination of missiles and ballistics that works okay on a medium.

The scale of the 'Mech is not bad. It's comparable to other 50-tonners.

I know it's obvious to see why, but it really strikes me as a Clanspec Centurion. At least with how everything... looks, I guess. Like someone mixed a Nova Cat and a Centurion together.

Let's see how it will fare in the actual game. There was a quite great hype around the Night Gyr and today I can't see too many of them.

the important part is you can see the blasted ground now! i lost count of the number of times i clipped an effectively invisible ledge on that map and lost the advantage in a fight.

Not my experience...several on the enemy team each match and usually on my team as well.

Question for Caedis_Animus (and anyone else who owns the Huntsman); does it run somewhat like a miniature Summoner? I enjoy cagey/hyperactive mechs that are good at hit and fade tactics. Usually with builds consisting of twin ERPPCs, Gauss/Pulse, or SRM/Pulse combos (the first two being my favorite, as you can vary with sniping early-on if the situation allows). Jump-jets v hover-jets are best. I thoroughly enjoy being able to jump 'n twist just when the enemy thinks he ha's a great shot (either hitting the legs, or missing entirely). I think this is what is so attractive to me about the Huntsman. At least, in theory. That, and I'm not stuck in the heavy queue. Well, and-- it does look so durn amazingly sexy, too. Thoughts??

Yes, somewhat. IMO it's better than the Summoner at sniping and poptarting thanks to those high torso mounts (unless you have the loyalty variants, which make the dual ERPPC or ERPPC/Gauss Summoner superior to the equivalent Huntsman build). The Summoner is probably better at brawling.
The extra podspace finally lets you field some credible ballistic loadouts (like dual UAC/10s or triple UAC/2s).
In practice you have to play a bit differently cause you have 3 more tons of weapons and a lot less armor and structure; it's more of a glass cannon. During this event it's particularly bad cause everyone wants to score their daily kill, i've seen people charge straight into the enemy team to take down an Huntsman  >:(
That said, i'm loving it.

Clanwolf, it's kinda tough to say. The only experience I have with the Summoner chassis is back when they had the Prime as a trial 'mech. That said, I've found it can carry a better loadout.

As for mobility, it can jump and twist like mad, but is otherwise exactly as mobile as the Summoner-maybe with better acceleration. I've been running a build with twin UAC/5s and five ER Small Lasers, and that's been great-as has my Pakhet hero, which is currently boating four SRM-4s, two MPLs, and an ERPPC-and I score great average damage in both.

Alright, gonna necropost here because I'd rather not make another topic.

In retrospective, the Huntsman is still a really great mech; However, it seems to have gotten dropped relatively quickly compared to a lot of others. In fact, I still see Novas far more, likely due to the position of the-Well, impolite word that rhymes with sass vole-meta being in small laser and MG spam.

While my perspective is a little different, having been stuck in Tier 3 Hell presumably forever due to constantly losing for various reasons, it's interesting to note that the Huntsman has remained my standby medium since it came out. The Bushwhacker and Centurion may both be tankier, and the Huntsman may sometimes be a priority target due to its heavy-esque loadout, but I honestly feel as though this battlemech may just be my favorite unit in the game despite being fragile, midspeed, and constantly defiled by eight-LRM boating Pakhets.
