Let's see how it will fare in the actual game. There was a quite great hype around the Night Gyr and today I can't see too many of them.

Not my experience...several on the enemy team each match and usually on my team as well.

Question for Caedis_Animus (and anyone else who owns the Huntsman); does it run somewhat like a miniature Summoner? I enjoy cagey/hyperactive mechs that are good at hit and fade tactics. Usually with builds consisting of twin ERPPCs, Gauss/Pulse, or SRM/Pulse combos (the first two being my favorite, as you can vary with sniping early-on if the situation allows). Jump-jets v hover-jets are best. I thoroughly enjoy being able to jump 'n twist just when the enemy thinks he ha's a great shot (either hitting the legs, or missing entirely). I think this is what is so attractive to me about the Huntsman. At least, in theory. That, and I'm not stuck in the heavy queue. Well, and-- it does look so durn amazingly sexy, too. Thoughts??

Yes, somewhat. IMO it's better than the Summoner at sniping and poptarting thanks to those high torso mounts (unless you have the loyalty variants, which make the dual ERPPC or ERPPC/Gauss Summoner superior to the equivalent Huntsman build). The Summoner is probably better at brawling.
The extra podspace finally lets you field some credible ballistic loadouts (like dual UAC/10s or triple UAC/2s).
In practice you have to play a bit differently cause you have 3 more tons of weapons and a lot less armor and structure; it's more of a glass cannon. During this event it's particularly bad cause everyone wants to score their daily kill, i've seen people charge straight into the enemy team to take down an Huntsman  >:(
That said, i'm loving it.

Clanwolf, it's kinda tough to say. The only experience I have with the Summoner chassis is back when they had the Prime as a trial 'mech. That said, I've found it can carry a better loadout.

As for mobility, it can jump and twist like mad, but is otherwise exactly as mobile as the Summoner-maybe with better acceleration. I've been running a build with twin UAC/5s and five ER Small Lasers, and that's been great-as has my Pakhet hero, which is currently boating four SRM-4s, two MPLs, and an ERPPC-and I score great average damage in both.

Alright, gonna necropost here because I'd rather not make another topic.

In retrospective, the Huntsman is still a really great mech; However, it seems to have gotten dropped relatively quickly compared to a lot of others. In fact, I still see Novas far more, likely due to the position of the-Well, impolite word that rhymes with sass vole-meta being in small laser and MG spam.

While my perspective is a little different, having been stuck in Tier 3 Hell presumably forever due to constantly losing for various reasons, it's interesting to note that the Huntsman has remained my standby medium since it came out. The Bushwhacker and Centurion may both be tankier, and the Huntsman may sometimes be a priority target due to its heavy-esque loadout, but I honestly feel as though this battlemech may just be my favorite unit in the game despite being fragile, midspeed, and constantly defiled by eight-LRM boating Pakhets.
