KungsArmé Armored Regiment
« on: 03 February 2017, 19:37:01 »
1st Stanzach Royal Armored Regiment

In 3046, the KungsArmé officially incorporated the First Stanzach Armored Regiment and began equipping it with fusion tanks.  As the 29th of the KungsArmé’s Armored regiments, it did not receive as much new equipment as some of the earlier ones.  Rather confusingly, the unit is still listed as part of the 1st Stanzach Armored Division, yet retains independent command under the KungsArmé.  While technically not tied to Stanzach, logistical and political considerations all but ensure its continued presence there.

The regiment’s core is made up of high-end imported tanks.  Cheaper, mostly domestically produced models fill out the remainder.  Each of the three battalions is designed to fill a different role.  The First Battalion’s Alpha and Bravo Companies are slow and heavy, combining short and long range firepower.  They also have strong anti-air capabilities.  First Charlie company is one of the KungsArmé’s signature Manticore/Hunter groups, thus giving the battalion a more mobile company for tactical maneuver.  The Second Battalion has two such companies, but Second Charlie still consists of much cheaper Scorpions.  The Third Battalion is designed for speed, with a full company of Vedettes and two hover companies.  It is virtually unchanged from its pre- KungsArmé version, and notably lacks a dedicated command lance.

* I couldn’t find a command vehicle I like, so I’ll offer a few possibilities.
1.  Manticore b/c BattleTech commanders ride around in hardcore killing machines
2.  Vedette A/C2, but replace the SRMs w/ comm. equipment
3.  Heavy Tracked APC, replace the infantry bays w/ comm. and armor

Try a Hi-Scout or look up SturmFeur SRM.

I like your Tracked / Hover APC combo... Have you taken a look at this one before?

1x Standard Hover APC
2x SRM Hover APC
1x Sensor Hover APC

Sensor and Standard are your main flankers, while SRMs are skirmishers.

Thanks TT, the Hi-Scout is just the sort of thing I was looking for.  It's interesting that they don't mention it as a potential command vehicle, but with 5 tons of comm. gear, it would certainly work.  I think it's great for regimental level, and maybe even overkill for the battalion level.  It overlaps with my recon platoon, but who doesn't need a little redundancy in the recon department?  Now that you got me thinking about drones, the Sensor Hover APC would work well for that recon platoon.
