Scarabus SCB-9S
« on: 15 April 2017, 16:47:09 »
Most attempts to mod the Scarabus seem to revolve around making TSM work on it (difficult given how hard it is to generate that heat with a that small of a warload without resorting to single heat sinks); I decided to go a different direction with it.

making TSM work on it (difficult given how hard it is to generate that heat with a that small of a warload without resorting to single heat sinks)

I wouldn't call it difficult, since you can turn heat sinks off. A 'Mech with no weapons just movement generated heat, could activate TSM after a few turns, and keep it active, by only having the necessary heat sinks turned on.

I decided to go a different direction with it.

Interesting. With how fast you go, would you consider dropping the mace in favor of numerous spikes, putting the AES in the legs (need to drop something for a second AES for the other leg), and just charging people?

The spike notion is an interesting concept, but I feel like that would stray too far from the true spirit of the Scarabus. Now, a battlefield-viable rework of the Porcupine...
