The L-19 is a perenial competitor to the Mark VII series of Landing craft. Heavier, and capable of carrying a significantly greater load, the craft's advantages are clear enough to make it a popular choice. However, the L-19 has never been able to supplant the Mark VII. Generals cite the maneuverability of the other craft, as well as its superior armament and armor, as the main reasons why they'd much rather have it than the L-19 supporting their logistical chain.

Even so, the L-19 has its fans. Large spaceborn communities such as the Terran Belters or the habitats at Gulf Breeze, as well as worlds heavily dependent on intrasystem space traffic, swear by the design, and the Draconis Combine Admiralty is a regular purchaser, most famously for their fleet of Kyushu class Frigates, where the L-19 served as an ad-hoc Ship to Surface battlemech transport.

The L-19 has changed precious little since its last major service upgrade during the Third Succession War, most likely another strike against it in the endless competion against the Mark VII. The main cargo bay is highly modular, however, and L-19s have carried loads ranging from battlemechs to armored vehicles to hundreds of infantrymen. Personalized variants are fairly common as well, usually focusing on either modifying or removing the weapon load to either increase protection or further expand the ship's cargo capacity.

I've made ones very similar to that. Solid design in my opinion.

Out of curiosity, what was the basis for the choice of weapons?

If I had to guess, LRMs in the aft can not only help clear the landing area, but also laydown defensive things like smoke or mines (though not technically since it is against the rules for aerospace units to use anything but standard ammo, I can see it happening outside of battle or something), or even clear mines from the landing zone. If it is intended to be using special ammo types, the AC would probably be loaded with Flak ammo for AA work while it is grounded.

As good of a reason as any. I'm not sure why I chose the weapons I did.
