HTM-28T Hatamoto-Chi Shin - Where does it come from
« on: 14 August 2017, 14:29:13 »
Hi folks,
Does anyone know where the "Shin" variant of the Hatamoto-Chi come from? Is it piloted by Shin Yodama? If so, when?
I have struggled to find information about the variant.

Are you asking about fluff wise where it came from?
It only came in  Record Sheets: 3050 Unabridged (Inner Sphere) p. 223, so there no fluff on it I know of.  Unless it's related to Theodore Kurita's friend, Shin Yodama. I'm in the dark.  Yodama I thought he was a Phoenix Hawk, Griffin, and Dragon Fire pilot.

Yodama was in a Dragonfire during Bulldog. The custom HTM might have been issued to him after returning to DC space. The 3060 intro date seems to support that.

I believe the mech was first seen as a kitbashed miniature in the Miniatures Rules book, a long time back. I think it was quite a while after that until we finally got stats for it.

But there's no actual sense of where and when in the BTU it was fielded?

I found a piece of art that seems to be this Mech (see attached)

Just means *I* don't know, not that nobody knows.

That image is likely fanart...and is badass. O0

Keep thinking read fiction of Shin using it, but unsure after re-reading The Dragon Roars and having him in that Dragon Fire. Maybe on the Great Refusal or FedCom Civil War novels?

On the art side - Chris Lewis did images of all the variants then known for Fanpro magazine - http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=22692.0 has these and others too

I was under the impression if the art work wasn't released by a canon source (the image), that it wasn't considered canon.

Looking at the older forum posts regarding art for the alternate variants makes me wish the Omnimechs really were made to have actual pods builders could buy to make thier desired variants.  Or that the Hunchback had a removable AC for ease of modding.  :)

Those are GORGEOUS. My only gripe is that it lacks the back banner for which it is named.
