X Hastati Sentinels
« on: 07 August 2014, 14:52:50 »
Here is the first lance of my in-progress X Hastati Sentinels company. I was shooting for table top quality so don't be too rough on me. I really like how the gold turned out. They look better in person. Enjoy!

Those are some fat shins on that Black Knight. Not sure I like that model very much.

I was more worried about the legs and hips as a whole when I first glimpse the 3D CAD model, it originally looked like the hips would be scraping the guns as it walked.

Yeah, the leg assembly as a whole is just really... fat. I guess the upper body looks alright, it's just the legs that are sort of wide. Might be able to modify it depending on how the model is put together.

The arms and leg are attached to the torso with ball joints. You can flair out the arms so that they don't touch the legs. I attached the arms after painting the mini. It's still my favorite mini that I've painted so far. The details of the sculpt are fantastic.

The real scary part is that aside from the Black Knight, I haven't got a clue what the other Mechs are. Not a single damned clue.

A friend of mine on here has the new Black Knight and seeing it in person it looks great and I think it is a very sexy beast.

From left to right:
Black Knight BLK-NT-5H
Doloire DLR-O
Lament LMT-2R
Peacekeeper PKP-1A

A lot of republican mechs (without the Black Knight, which is aquired from the Davions).

I really just don't know... I like the classic Black Knight, bar the weird leg assembly. I don't mind this new Black Knight, bar the leg assembly. I'd really have to see it in person to make up my mind, and I just can't say for sure if it would be worth it over the classic that I already have.

It is a different mech from the original.

IWM and CGL posted the 3D CAD work of the Gunslinger and BlackKnight to show the sculptors are following the artwork as close as possible (possible due to the Dragon II backlash) if someone gave mini skinner legs, chances are someone would complain it wasn't following the art :P

On another note; As top heavy as it is, heavy legs to support the mechs weight makes sense. It just looks that more bulky due to the way the torso tapers down to the waist.
