In BattleTech canon the Bounty Hunter had the Griffin.

Though looking at the Orthographic view, shows MWO Marauder has JumpJets.   That's odd twist.  Marauder II was only "classic" version to get Jump Jets, making more stand out from standard Marauders from Succession Wars era.

That's because two of the Marauder variants slated for MWO are the TRO: 3050 versions that have jump jets, the 5D and the 5M.

As for the fiction, I doubt it's considered canon since it's written for MWO, which is a video game.  Aren't video games generally considered apocryphal as far as canon goes?

The writing for the Rifleman was canonic:
http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=49808.0
So there is a good chance this one is too. These little nuggets from the BTU are just meant to entertain and give insights without actually interfering in the canonic storyline (unlike some of the older games).

The Marauder looks like it has a small CT, but only playing it will tell. What I noticed is that the MWO-Marauder indeed looks like a slimmer King Crab, especially from the front. I am not too keen on the upwards flaring STs, but I will wait and see how it looks on my screen.

Six days to do - Badges and Titles

Standard Package:
The Raider -

Collectors Package:
The Money Maker -

Boring, but the fancy new 'Mech images certainly is welcome.

I think that in-game image looks fantastic.  O0
I must say I still have my doubts and mainly purchased the pack out of nostalgia, but images like that reduce my doubts a lot. It may not have the classic Marauder look as much as the new CG version, but it nonetheless looks like a mean war-machine which is really more menacing than most PGI designs thus nicely reflecting the fear factors novels gave the Marauder. Thanks to the event I got enough MC to give it any paint job I want.

I am a fan of the badges's style, and have been for quite some time, as I strongly dislike the super-fancy, flashy 90ies insignia which no one would paint like that on a war-machine.
That said, why horns? Historians and archaeologists work tirelessly to tell the world that Viking helmets did not have horns. I know most historical Viking helmets would be plain and boring, but a few are distinctive and attractive designs like the Gjermundbu-helmet.

In-universe, same reason we have people having insignia of "Mickey Rat", BattleTech is hundreds of years in the future so details range between all we know and sorta-vague. Out of universe, rule of cool I suppose

Another slightly cleaner image:

5 Days to Go and its Scale Video Time - https://youtu.be/wSdhN98NWOI

Height - Visually the legs make it seem tall, but compared to other heavies she's a shorty.

Width - Quite slender all things considered.

Length - And this is where she pays for low height/width. Like the King Crab, arms very forward and lot of torso from the rear.

Anything more to the side than 10 and 2 is going to be start side shots.

I do like the front aspect. It really sort of ties into some of the early Bushwacker fluff on thin longer mechs.

The ballistic mount looks strong for snipping, the arm mounts are very low once you see how short she is.

I'm looking forward to both my 3R(s) and my BH very much!

I'm impressed.

I hope the Warhammer gets the same attention.

If it does not, that will help me make my decision.

PGI announcing the PHX or CRD might help too.

Look forward to seeing these in game.

On a separate note, is PGI support worth a damn in getting MWO running correctly?  I'm having awful, constant "surges" lately that make it damn near unplayable.

you're better off asking the community in my experience. every problem i've had either righted itself after using the repair tool several times for no explained reason, or took six months for them to get around to.

It seems likely at some point they will release them. I think they will by some point release nearly all the mechs available in the time period.

The FFR picture shows the top gun turned.  So i think it may.  but this is a picture.

The Marik paint job reminds me of the old, Defenders of Audurien paint scheme.

Personally, the Bounty hunter's paint scheme lacks enough money symbols.

Not digging the stubby arms... I get that they're trying to get away from useless low-slung arms, but I think they could have extended them forward a bit to make them appear to have a longer upper-arm. Anyway, other than this, it looks pretty darn solid. I wish that I was happier with the current content, and didn't feel compelled to ask for a refund. GG... :-\

Marauder

All hail the mighty Marauder! I am hyped for sure.

I was hoping for PPC quirks, and I got them. The velocity is a big deal and the somewhat reduced heat is also helpful. The movement quirks are obviously in preparation of the coming general changes (nerfs), but nice nonetheless.
As someone in the forum said, PGI probably wants this Mech to be good. The size, the raised arms, the quirks... I can well imagine to wreak havoc with my fast PPC slinger.

Also the in-game shots show a beautiful, sleek Mech. Although it is bulkier than the original Japanese design, it still captures the spirit of a lean and mean war machine. And the paint jobs are wonderful, too. I must say I am a little disappointed they are not included, but I saved some MC for them anyway.

The only thing I am a bit sceptic about are the cockpit items. They look a little too fancy for my taste, but I will wait and see. (@ Hawktel: the standard pack will include one of each item, i.e. one warhorn, one standing and one hanging item. So everyone should have at least one).

I'm going to run my 3R with Max armor, Double PPC, Double Medium, and the AC5, and 16 DHS. I've never used the PPC very much. When I had it on a Panther I was trying to basic back in August, I didn't enjoy it, but I think I'm going to make a real effort to learn it now.

The Bounty Hunter is going to get reworked with a 300LX, 5x Medium Lasers, 2x ER Large Laser, and a LB10X, with 4 Jumps and 16 DHS also.

They really look good, and I think that PGI did good with this package. I'm pretty happy with the game right now!

50% more PPC projectile speed? they're really hitting the "please not suck" button on this one, but that's just a reminder at how ineffective the PPC usually is due to the way they "balanced" the weapon. well, we'll see how it does.

how many "big names" do they have to make into sales purchases after this?
