Can't name any but we have a list fleshed out through next year doing one per quarter. [Emphasis mine]

Glad to hear they're coming, but man that's a painfully slow release.

And not knowing the order for the number allowed kind of sucks . . . I am wanting Wolverines, Warhammers and Marauders!

I'm looking forward for the ones that have been difficult to find stand-ins for.  Locust, Valkyrie, Crusader, etc.  Probably Locust more than anything else.

I have. It's awesome. The very talented Sentinel343 is doing it.

As much as I want minis in hand, I'd really like to see the art for the previously unseen designs (Crusaders, Goliath, Scorpion, etc.).

Not for awhile, 3rd is pretty much set, 4th still needs some fleshing out.

Why are the Locust and Wolverine not being "authorized"?

That sounds like an excellent question that Speck probably doesn't know the answer to, and is probably not for public viewing even if he does.

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

Is there a reason they would not be?  All I saw was a statement by a PKN like the rest of us?

Catalyst is doing the Classics (paying for the new art, the 3d work, etc).  So CGL presumably want to release a product that makes back their money eventually.  So (again presumably) they are letting IWM release some to try and manage demand while CGL is still working on a "full" release in the future. So there's some give and take on which IWM can release and when to make sure this ends up not all CGL paying and CGL left with unable to recuperate those costs and (probably more importantly) the costs of plastic manunfacturing.

Oh I understand all that . . . but Alex posted asking why those two would not be authorized and the only other thing I have seen about it was phoenixstorm's list where he was saying those two might not be authorized.  Since both were by people knowing nothing I was wondering if that was officially sourced from somewhere.

Which I don't remember saying... but I don't really remember that far back anyway. I think it was based on the assumption that IWM was only doing 3 per weight class. Which is a logical assumption. Ostscout, Wasp, Valkyrie are the lights we know of at the moment. As for costs from CGL, based on the last intro box I would say it may be possible to reuse the masters from IWM to make the high quality multi-part units much like the Battlemaster and Timber Wolf. Don't know what kind of masters are used so not sure if its possible or not but does make sense.

Can't wait to see what classics are coming in Q3/4 though.

Bottom line? Everyone wants a piece of that sweet, sweet Classics money, and right now everyone with a stake seems to be playing nice and trying to share.

I have no inside info, but it seems pretty obvious that Catalyst wants a chance to release some of the more popular minis in plastic before IWM releases them in metal. We don't know exactly what that list includes, but given the prototypes they've brought out in the past year, the locust, warhammer, marauder, battlemaster, and griffin, those seem likely to be on the list of minis CGL is looking at making. No guarantees, but they had a limited number modeled, printed, and painted to show off, so it seems logical they might want to sell some eventually.

Another question. What weight class will the Q3/4 mechs be for the classics? Can we at least get that much?? [notworthy]

As much as most of us want to buy them in some large quantity, yes.

So are there any news about the Q3 releases?

They will most likely have to be done through the Fan Finance project.
