It's interchangeable with "unit" or "mech/tank/fighter/etc." It's another way to make your sentences less repetitive.

According to Legends, IIRC, by the time he became Focht, his active combat days were behind him and he only piloted his Atlas to keep his qualification current. He wanted to serve frontline, but IIRC ComStar felt he was worth more back safe than in harm's way.

Specifically, Focht was the Atlas pilot. Fred drove a Zeus. He was apparently a bit of a gearhead when he was young, as his bio in the House Steiner says that he was also an expert technician for it.

I remember reading the first one many years back.  Didn't realize it ever got a sequel.

Anything you give me I'm just going to turn into 2nd Donegal Guardsmen. If they're pre-painted that's just an extra step for me.

Phobos is an asteroid that got caught.  We can't be expecting much of it, or any disappointment is on us.

Just finished Rats, Bats, and Vats by Eric Flint & David Freer, and started on the sequel, The Vats, The Bats, and the Ugly.

Cloned human conscript and some uplifted military animals vs alien invaders, with a good dose of humour.

Fan Designs and Rules / Re: No to-hit Rolls for missiles?

I tried variations of this long ago, basically because I didn't like the idea where you could roll two sixes and needing only a 5, which I saw as a very solid lock (we got tone!) on LRM20 and then for the second roll, only 4 missiles hit.  It worked for a few games but it also made the LRM15 and LRM20 very OP.

No, that was Challenge of the Go-Bots were they developed the ability to transform as part of the war.  Though I haven't seen every episode of Transformers G1, they could have put it into an episode that I didn't see.  There were at least two mutually exclusive origins for both the Dinobots and Constructions in the cartoon, after all.  But like I said, the standard explanation was that they were built as a slave race by the Quintessons with the ability to transform as part of their roles: Autobots, built for domestic labor and construction, turned mostly into cars and trucks, while Decepticons, built primarily for combat, mostly turned into jets and other war machines.

In the comics, Transformers had "evolved from naturally occurring pullies and gears" and the ability to transform was innate from the get-go.

The Chapparal was the first thing that came to my mind when you said Arrow IV.
