He could just mount old fashion Foam buds outside the suit set at medium speaker volume, higher if needed. Also, would you allow a oneway screen so at least you can see out but hard to see in?

And, this is cool, but could you give your pilot your CBT Callsign painted on the side of the cockpit, just so we can say we say you there?

I've got a place online that sells pretty cheap two way mirrors cut to size. I plan on buying 5 or 6 of those and strategically placing them around at eye level. Good idea with the callsign, consider that on the to-do list.

That is a very good idea.  Not only does it make it easier for us to identify him, but "Ion Raptor" is also a very good name for a 'Mech armed with four ERPPCs.

...I'm torn between Ion Raptor and Ion Reaper now.  The latter does sound more evil...but the former is your actual forum name.

And maybe put a disclaimer saying Pilot does not look like the real CBTer named Ion Raptor. He's better looking and not so " Plastic like ".  O0 ;D

To keep things alive I've got a couple pictures for your viewing pleasure. I'm moving into a new place this Friday so that might give me the kick in the pants to really start work on this again.

Here's what will eventually become the PPC barrels

Oh and just for fun I made him a pair of a certain type of shades.

Tuck a Mini-Maglite at the inside end of each barrel, with the blue lens cover on it, and hook up pressure switches to where your hands are.  Since they'll be at the far end of the tube, you'll get a nice thin cone of light coming out - and it'd look amazing in a slightly dimmed light.

Neat stuff so far though I find it interesting that only the reverse joint designs are getting the attention. Has anyone ever done scale Battle Armor?

That looks fantastic, although I must admit I am a little concerned about painting the hull with the cockpit in place.  Do you have a way to easily remove it for that?

Yeah, that entire forward section isn't permanently in place yet and can be removed. Once it's painted I'll fix the command console and cockpit "glass" into place.

Yeah, I figured that was the case, although I figured I should checked because a permanent fixture there could be...problematic.

Now that I've finished up my Masters I've started work again. This is the third or fourth time I've done this and hopefully I'll be able to complete it this time. I spray painted the torso down but decided I hated the way the gum tape texture looked when painted. So I bought a metric ton of Craft foam and have been busy cutting it up and placing it along finished components. This should let me have some nice big raised panels and deep panel lines. It should  look more like a miniature in mega form when I'm done plus give it the added benefit of looking a lot smoother.

Since I'm not using the gumtape as a finished surface anymore I don't have to cover the entire thing, just the edges.

I'm basing a lot of the panel details on Pacific Rim and super detailed Gundam models. These lines were lifted directly from the RX-78

The foam also lets me weather it, though I've never done so before. I tested a couple methods out on some scrap pieces and I'm leaning towards the top one (I've also messed around with the dremel to make weapons wounds)

Now we're getting somewhere. Cockpit area has its foam completely cut out and is currently held on by scotch tape. I started doing some battle damage as well to break up the large panels. I'm thinking that I'll paint this mech in Ghost Bear Tau Galaxy colors

I'm going to use these bent hanger clippings to make hand holds for the pilot to get in and out of the cockpit

I'll just throw this in here for the sake of it, if you want ambient sound and to use a phone/small tablet for lighting in the cockpit then you can hide headset speakers in the launchers or weapon barrels. That said, looking forward to seeing this beast finished.

Now you need some nose art and that callsign added.

By nose art, I mean kill markers.  O:-)

The great thing about Tau galaxy is that they already have a canon precedent for kill markers. There will be claw marks along the arms for each kill. I'm getting really excited about this costume now that progress is moving quickly. I'm pretty sure that as soon as I'm done with this one I'll start on a Daishi torso so I can just reuse these legs

After a period of stress having to do with job prospects I've finally started work again, finished the weapons bits as well as most of the legs.
