Description: One super continent (Chengu) with isolated interior sea, and two large island chains (Montong and Dendeez). Terrain primarily classified as Jungle and Arid deserts. Local lifeforms roughly analogous to the late Jurassic/Early Cretaceous of Earth, with large endothermic reptilians dominating. Crustal deposits of heavy metals have led to substantial Industrial and Mining operations, but also contribute to dangerous mineral content in local water sources which require processing to render it safe for human use.
   Planetary Population is primarily of South East Asian and Indian ethnicity. Urban areas are primarily located on the Coastal regions of Chengu and the island chains, the largest being the capitol and spaceport of Zhi-Chiang on the interior Zhoulin Sea. Planetary politics is dominated by industrial conglomerates run by the local nobility. the largest and most powerful of which is the Montong family, managers of the Montong Mining Consortium and hereditary rulers/governors since 2781.

the Lùyíngbing
   The Lùyíngbing is the self assigned code name for Hsien's Pro-Capellan irregulars, an odd alliance of Outlaw Biker Gangs and Capellan Loyalists. With ties to one of the minor corporate families and the local criminal underground, they have arranged to obtain shipments of weapons and supplies, and to hire freelance pilots and crews. While their organization is large, it's cell structure prevents it from being able to field a strong direct action force. Their ranks continue to swell as Hassid Montong continues to crack down on pro-capellan popular movements.
   The Lùyíngbing's Direct action group is comprised primarily of the Jungle Raptors Bikers Gang, one of the larger and more violent Outlaw Biker Gangs on the planet. While not military trained, they are enthusiastic and their off-road Bikes, Trikes, and ATV's give them excellent mobility in the Jungles and Arid Deserts of Hsien. Bolstering this Infantry force is the Baturu, a lance of Elderly Veterans who in their youth fought against the Word of Blake and the formation of the Republic of the Sphere. While their mechs are of primitive design, they provide a capable recon element. The last component is a Lance of mercenaries and freelancers, referred to as the Yong Ying, recruited to give the force a skilled combat element. equipped with the best Battlemechs and vehicles the Lùyíngbing could smuggle onto the world, the mercenaries owe more allegiance to the their corporate backers than the Lùyíngbing movement proper.

33rd Hei'àn Company.
   Hei'àn companies are a covert operation unit concept used by the Capellan Confederation, first seen in their offensives in the 3140's. They are largely used as deep strike, raiding, and guerilla support units. Hei'àn companies are primarily composed of older equipment drawn from storage to allow them to be formed rapidly, their personnel drawn from whatever sources are available at the formation. as a result many Hei'àn companies have a large percentage of pilots with minor disciplinary problems and criminal connections. The CCAF leadership consider Hei'àn units effectively expendable, and have not devoted much effort to overcoming these issues.
   The 33rd fared better than most Hei'àn units when created, it's commander using his noble ties to arrange access to higher quality equipment, including obtaining an early prototype of the new Yinghuochong Battlemech for field testing. The unit was dispatched to assist the Lùyíngbing Guerillas on Hsien in the late 3130's, which at the time was deep behind enemy lines. Inserted over the course of several months disquised as laborers and machine tools for mines in the Chengu Jungles, the unit has thus far largely kept its operations limited to connecting to Lùyíngbing movement, and patrolling the deep jungles around their remote mining site base while a plan of action is developed.

the Guerilla's i gave group names based on military organizations from the Manchu dynasties of china, which is something i figure that a pro-capellan group might do in the post Xin-Sheng time periods. the group name is better known by it's english translation, the Green Standard Army. Baturu was a military title given to skilled warriors, and Yong Ying was a type of civilian militia seen in the later parts of the Qing Dynasty in their wars against european colonization.

the Hei'àn Company's are my own idea, sorta halfway between a Capellan Shadow Lance and the Combines Ghost Regiments. the name means "darkness", with it's parts having alternate meanings like secret, hidden, covert, etc. the concept is basically to let me avoid using a canon unit, and to give me a Shadow Lance type unit without being stuck having to use all stealth armor designs.

I hope so!

well, next up are the Montong Family/corporation's personal army, and a small force allied with them (nature still TBD), but i do plan to have a Republic allied group present. set up a 3 way fight over the world for a future campaign i'm hoping to run eventually. I'm thinking local Standing Guard for the big force, and then maybe a small Republic Remnant led by a Knight as the small force connected to them.

i also plan to eventually do a Bannsons Raiders aligned unit.

i'm building mine around a 400/200 PV dynamic.. 400pv is the main forces, 200pv are the smaller "allied" groups.


for those curious as to what i am using for the Yinghuochong, since it does not yet have an IWM figure..
one of these: a Jovian Chronicles CEA-09 Cerberus, which i am going to be modifying with some BT parts (like weapons.)

Agreed. Practically all of the 'pirate factions' in the RotS were running around in or near that part of prefecture VI st one point or another. Yet it is also fairly open to original additions without disrupting canon.

Sadly I am in the middle of a move so updates may be limited for a few days. I hope to have the next faction up in the next week or so. Plus hopefully some additional background info on the planet and events.

Update! and the fluff includes a bit of details as to what is going on with Hsien politics..


1st Hsien Kshatriya

The Kshatriya are the private military force created by Governor Hassid Montong and the Montong Mining Consortium. Developed from MMC's corporate security force and unveiled in 3133 not long after the Blackout, the then battalion sized combined arms unit was presented as a skilled force for the defense of Hsien in troubled times, but in practice was used more as a showpiece unit to intimidate the opponents and detractors of Governor Montong. In 3134 the Hsien Parliament voted the Governor emergency powers for the duration of the blackout crisis, which Hassid Montong used to expand the unit into a combined arms regiment, and assign it the role of urban peacekeeping. After the Governor refused to step down at the end of his final term in 3136, citing the emergency and the need for stability in the wake of the establishment of Fortress Republic, it was the Kshatriya which enforced his martial law decree, put down demonstrations calling for an election, and held off a coup attempt by the Hsien Standing Guard. This action marked the beginning of a civil war on Hsien, in which the Kshatriya have featured heavily during the fighting.
   The Kshatriya are equipped with some rather capable hardware, although very little is truly cutting edge. the MMC's financial power allows them to obtain new equipment and personnel regularly to keep up with losses. Due to the Montong family's paranoia over loyalty, recruitment is stringent, and as a result mercenaries and off world hiring supplies much of the unit's soldiers and support staff. The 1st Kshatriya incorporate combined arms at the company level directly, each company having at least one lance of vehicles and one platoon of Battle armor (or company of non-BA infantry). This allows each company to operate independently as a detached force without sacrificing flexibility. The 1st Kshatriya has taken over the Hsien Standing Guard's military base in Zhi-Chiang as their headquarters, although the bulk of its forces are deployed in company strength units to various sites on the continent of Chengu and the Montong Island chain, to bolster (and watch over) former Standing Guard forces that sided with Govenor Montong.

Captain Abha Montong - Female, Young. Cousin to the Govenor, enlisted in the Hsien Standing Guard, after her term of service ended was hired for MMC corporate security's small mech unit. With the secret formation of the 1st Hsien Kshatriya unit in 3130, became the unit's third in command and commander of the second company. Recently was given a AV1-0 Avatar found at the Standing Guard's Zhi-Chiang base during the Coup attempt.

Zaporoski Brigade
   Despite its grandiose name, the Zaporoski Brigade is a small but skilled mercenary battalion specializing in heavy armor. Governor Montong hired the 'Brigade' to bolster his own forces with the start of the civil war in 3136, and it is common to see Lance sized detachments of their armor anchoring assaults by his forces. However their force is spread thin, much to the consternation of the Brigade's commander, and they are often reluctant to throw their precious armor into heavy fighting for fear of taking excessive damage. The Brigade's equipment is a hodge-podge of vehicles, many of them former Republic systems obtained on the black market since the beginning of the Blackout, or purchased from their employer's motor pools as replacements for vehicles lost in battle.
