Need paint advice.

Hey all, I'm starting my 5th mech company and I've chosen the ubiquitous purple Marik Militia. I've seen a few different shades of purple used from very light, almost periwinkle, to dark royal purple. Is there an official-ish shade for Marik purple? I like the color Camospecs shows. What is the most suitable purple available from GW, or P3, or Vallejo? Thanks a bunch!

GW Liche Purple (old name) is very Grape Jelly. It typically needs a white or light violet ghostbrushing to bring up the edges & provide a little relief.

I've seen some nice work by Scotty (IIRC) using more of a lavender with black ink wash, which makes the purple less flowery. I intend to use this in my 40th Marik Militia unit.

The miniature painting guide that came in the most recent intro box suggested using Vallejo Game Color Hexed Lichen as a stereotypical Marik color.  This may be roughly equivalent to (old) GW Liche Purple.

I used Reaper MSP Amethyst Purple for mine, but it's a lighter purple.  (If the color of the base is more to your liking, that's Reaper MSP HD Gem Purple, which should be in the same ballpark as VGC Hexed Lichen.)

   Thanks! Yeah I don't have the recent intro set anymore so I don't have that guide. I will look for the Hexed Purple! 😊

I use Citadel's Naggaroth Night as a base, then their blue wash (Drakenhof Nightshade, I think), then drybrush/overbrush with Xereus Purple. it gives a nice Marik Militia shade of purple, IMO.
