Miniature of the Fortnight #30: Hellbringer/Loki
« on: 21 November 2017, 19:35:08 »
As we start to wrap up the Operation REVIVAL OmniMechs, we come to one of two candidates to end it with a bang.  Or a boom.  Or 'Mechs that go boom quickly if they don't get you first.  That's right, this fortnight, we're looking at the Hellbringer (Loki), a favorite of Clan Jade Falcon and other people who feel "Do you feel lucky, punk?" should apply to them as well as to their opponents.  And, sadly, snark is all I can provide (beyond what's in the TRO) so go to the 'Mech of the Week article to learn more.
  • Like all REVIVAL OmniMechs, the original sculpt of the Hellbringer (Loki) was released in metal and resin by Ral Partha (20-601).
  • And like all REVIVAL OmniMechs, Iron Wind Metals later released a resculpt (20-326).
  • Iron Wind Metals also released a sculpt for the C configuration (BT-010), which looks based on the resculpt.
  • And the first modern intro box contained a plastic premium sculpt Hellbringer (Loki), which also appears to have been based on the resculpt.
MechWarrior Dark Age would later give us what would become a worthy successor, the Hel (Loki Mk II), which has three miniatures released by IWM:
  • The Prime configuration sculpt (20-5142)
  • The A configuration sculpt (BT-408)
  • The B configuration sculpt (BT-415)
Please feel free share any Hellbringers or Lokis you have painted.

Thank you for reading.  And a special thank you to those of you who will post.

I'm sorry the past few threads have gone up a couple days late.  I'll try to get them back on track in December.

Our fortnights in December:
  • Inner Sphere: (12/3) Crab and King Crab
  • Clan: (12/17) Dire Wolf (Daishi)
  • New Year's Special: (12/31) First generation battle armor

I have a lot of Hellbringers, including two original sculpt and... I wanna say eight resculpts? And it turns out I have a few pictures of them stored away, mostly generically Jade Falcon green, but one special customized blue one I call the Magus Nigrum.

Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

Rather short on these:

One prime from joking "beaked" star of Falcons

And one jaguarish Prime.

Original sculpt and resculpt.

B config and C Config

2 custom units, and I believe an A that needs repairs on the laser arm.

One old sculpt and one resculpt.
The old model is fielded by clan Goliathscorpion Rho galaxy.
The resculpt model is part of the Delta galaxy of the same clan.

Only one in the collection.  It is the resculpt.  Early job with no real scheme in mind; just playing with the paints and basing.

Also, nice work everyone!  Got some beauties here so far  8)

Here's mine! It's a bit of an odd bird. :) I always felt the legs were out of scale for the the mech so I used the legs off the Ral Partha sculpt combined with the torso from the C resculpt. Also tweaked the arms a touch so they weren't as silly long.
