Hello! It's been a while. I'm reviving my old custom design thread as it should keep Forum Clutter down, and helps me call back my designs as I switch computers and stuff.

I'd like to start with my newest in a long line of fast and jump capable 60 ton machines. Behold, my Ogun.

Code: [Select]
Ogun OGN-060-KLE-C3BS

Mass: 60 tons
Tech Base: Inner Sphere
Chassis Config: Biped
Rules Level: Experimental Tech
Era: All Eras (non-canon)
Tech Rating/Era Availability: E/X-X-X-A
Production Year: 0
Cost: 14,600,160 C-Bills
Battle Value: 1,261

Chassis: Unknown Endo-Steel
Power Plant: Unknown 360 Fusion XL Engine
Walking Speed: 64.8 km/h
Maximum Speed: 97.2 km/h
Jump Jets: Unknown
    Jump Capacity: 180 meters
Armor: Unknown Light Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
    1  Large R-e Laser
    1  Streak SRM-4
    1  C3 Boosted Computer (Slave)
Manufacturer: Unknown
    Primary Factory: Unknown
Communications System: Unknown
Targeting and Tracking System: Unknown

Overview:
Named for the West African God of War and Iron.

An effective heavy cavalry mech, the Ogun can easily spot for a C3 Company,
while bringing considerable and highly accurate firepower to bear on those same
targets itself.

A difficult machine to dissable, considering its heavy armor and high speed,
it's also difficult to dodge and Targeting Computer can easily tear through enemies...especially with its Company mates
backing it up.

The integration of a C3-Boosted Slave unit makes it difficult to knock out the
Network, and therefore closing with it is dangerous.

The Ogun is not just one machine, but effectively 12.

What REALLY got me thinking about this, was a revelation I just had recently. It seems I was somehow unaware that Re-engineered lasers still granted a -1 bonus to-hit!

Soooo...I got thinking.

Also, my oldest son and I have been playing lately and he's very excited to learn to play with more and more advanced rules. So I'm stoked! More designs coming soon!

DANG! I somehow loaded the original version of the Ogun with the inefficient weapons and targeting computer mistakes I had made. Just noticed this and re=posted with the updated and far more efficient upgrades.

The Masakari-KU was designed by the joint efforts of several smaller battlemech manufacturing firms within the Draconis Combine who were attempting to corner more of the market and prestige that was reserved for the larger conglomerates within DCMS Space.

The two primary points that were considered were the mech to redesign, and integration of the C3 Network systems.

On the first point, they quickly realized that the Clan Warhawk had never been remotely duplicated. This was therefore their starting point. At first, their engineers attempted to simply increase the weight, and all attempts had failed in one way or another, while costs rose to unnacceptible amounts. The entire original team was about to commit Sepuku, when a young engineer asked to take charge of the project. He asked that the older experts wait as he needed them.

He thought he could keep the weight and primary payload the same. His first decision was to remove the missile system entirely. He then integrated the targeting systems directly with the hard-wired C3 Slave system in the torso. He also scaled back the weight to the original 85 tons. He then had teams work on heat sink placement and energy weapon configurations. The original prototype used 4 standard PPC's. While successful, it also didn't seem quite optimal. Adding a handful of younger engineers to each team, allowed newer ways to look at the problem. The final solution was to pair a HPPC and LPPC into each arm.

Armor was moved around to give maximum coverage to the front while reducing the weight as much as possible.

While the speed was kept the same, the technology of the Inner Sphere's XL Engines lagged behind the Clans, however a working solution was come to, and side torsos filled to the brim with Freezers were developed.

To assist in its primary roll of fire support, a trio of Jump Jets were added. These were AFTER test pilots complained of not being able to effectively get into the best firing positions under certain conditions. The Masakari-Ku can now jump onto hiltops and walls and other vantage points to have the clearest line of sight possible to targets. It also assited them in escaping anti-mech infantry and powered armor who got too close.

While the Advanced Targeting Computer was left off of the machine (part of the original team's tribulations) the inclusion of the C3 Slave was thought to offset the disadvantage.

Overall, a machine was designed that could fire all of it's weapons at an enemy effectively and accurately at long and medium ranges without ever having to worry about reloads. It came with the prestige of being designed after a successful and feared Clan design, and they had beaten other firms at these accomplishments.

Named for the fearsome Hungarian demon who beats his victims to death, often associated with strokes, heart attacks, or sudden paralysis.

The Guta is a speedy assault mech designed with a specific ability of not needing ammunition, and being able to regulate its heat to maximize its Triple Strength Myomers.

The primary trio of Large Refurbished Lasers offers a good mix of damage, range, and accuracy. The hatchet is its main damage dealer up close, though the ER Small Laser and Small Laser allow for limited damage and fine tuning of the heat.

Isten Kardja, was the "sword of God" supposedly found by Attila The Hun.

A rare, but solid Star LEague design, this particular battlemech is a heavy cav/trooper. Though it lacks anything resembling long ranged weaponry, it posses the speed to get in close to use what it does carry. It can run and alpha and remain heat neutral. Though the Small Pulse Lasers are rarely brought to bear on enemies larger than infantry, which it excelled at mauling when it needed to.

There was no known Royal variant of this, however the Comguard did possess a couple dozen. All survived Tukkayyid, and none were known to have defected to the Word of Blake. The lare Jihad destroyed most of the originals, however Comstar commissioned a small unknown firm to rebuild their lost numbers.

It is rumored that a C3i variant exsists, though no details beyond rumor are known to this writer.

The Guta looks ideal for cutting down Kuritan mechs with Hardened Armor.

EDIT: I put the data into MegaMekLab did a few simulated matches against a Shiro. It works pretty good, but I tweaked the design a little bit by removing one DHS and replacing it with a Medium Laser. That makes holding the heat at 9 much easier.

The Vityaz, named for the Russian word for Knight or strong person, is a command mech for the C3 Lance of a Company. Simple and effective, it carries only one arm mounted ERPPC. A weapon chosen for range, striking power, and effectiveness even in-close. Opposite, the battle fist mounted on the off-chance it needs to brawl with anyone. It is nimble and fast.

Overview:
Inmodern Russian, the word Vityaz (Latin Alphabet) is used a knight, warrior,
or very strong person.

The Vityaz Battlemech is a command mech for a C3 Scout Lance. It only carries a
single weapon, but it was chosen for range and effectiveness at all ranges.
Mounted in the arm, it has the best firing arc possible. The mobile and speedy
Vityaz is deadly as a centerpiece in any scouting C3 formation.

To ruin any meeting engagement for an opposing commander, AND keep logistics simple, try a formation of 4 Vityaz and 8 Dhole battlemechs. All the electronics (plus enough left over for ECCM) and enough ranged firepower to blast other scouting forces to smithereens. As a bonus, it's still fairly effective against forces consisting of larger elements, and losses can be cheaply replaced from a logistics pool.
