Congratulations to the US for winning this year's CONCACAF* Gold Cup. (In order to qualify for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, they will have to either beat the winners of the 2015 Gold Cup, or skip the play-off round if they win that tournament also.)

Confederation of North, Central American, and Caribbean Association Football.
At least say "European football"! :P
Given that there are other football codes in Europe (such as Gaelic football, from my own home island of Ireland) and other continents where association football is quite popular (the most successful national team at the FIFA World Cup is from Brazil), I might not be inclined to agree.
Actually, Gaelic football in the reason why this sport is referred to as soccer instead of football in some Irish sources, such as the state broadcaster
