Congrats Team USA for winning the Concaf tournament and to both Wondo and Donovan for sharing the golden boot award (and for the golden ball going to donovan)..

Sending out my prayers for Stu. Please not another serious knee injury, he deserves better after working so hard to make it back into the team.

Hopefully we can keep the momentum of this summer going into 2014 and Brazil.

Cheers,

At least say "European football"! :P

Didn't think Klinsmann could pull it off, thought he would have horribly failed by now, well... seems I was wrong.
Well, congratz :)

I like how Shea stole someone else's goal. that ball was going into the net even he doesn't touch it. It would have gone in just inside of the upright.

You gotta be sure though.  It was too important a game to just watch and hope.

Maybe if you're up by 2 goals you can watch & wait, but tied at 0-0, you gotta make sure. Plus, coaches like guys who are hungry to score and make sure the ball goes it.

Congratulations to the US for winning this year's CONCACAF* Gold Cup. (In order to qualify for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, they will have to either beat the winners of the 2015 Gold Cup, or skip the play-off round if they win that tournament also.)

*In case anyone was wondering, it's the Confederation of North, Central American, and Caribbean Association Football.

At least say "European football"! :P

Given that there are other football codes in Europe (such as Gaelic football, from my own home island of Ireland) and other continents where association football is quite popular (the most successful national team at the FIFA World Cup is from Brazil), I might not be inclined to agree.

Actually, Gaelic football in the reason why this sport is referred to as soccer instead of football in some Irish sources, such as the state broadcaster RTÉ.

I'm aware, I know a bunch of Irish whom I had several discussions about football/soccer with.
Still, there are only 6 countries in this world which call football soccer and none of them have a big history with that sport...

I might note that the word soccer itself originated in England.

Still they don't call it that ;)
Anyways... not a big deal. Was actually not meant as a snippish remark.

Plus with the pace it had, could Shae have been certain it WAS going to go in before someone slipped in and kicked it out?
