The Orca looks solid.  I'm just sad it and the Trebaruna were not ready for Historicon*.

*Jim had mentioned the Orca when I asked him about it but wasn't optimistic it would be available by Gen Con.  Glad to hear for folks going that it will be.

Does this mean that the new SHD will be gencon only, or is this just an early release?

Early release (for time served in unseen hell) before general release in Q4 2016 (see this post and subsequent discussion)

Incoming fire has the right of way.

Just wondering; will the Shadow Hawk come with any variant parts?

Not in itself; the -2K variant will be released as a separate blister.

Really? That is an amazing, unexpected bonus.  O0
The Shad mini is perfect... just what I would have asked for the NuSeen. Thank you IWM & co.

Based on the picture, it looks like it even shares the slightly-too-wide-for-a-hex-base stance of its unseen predecessor. ;D

Even better, it appears the wide stance may be a choice. One leg is separate.

Just a hunch... this was the "reasons" you were alluding to as to the fiddliness of the SRM?  ;D If so, tres cool! O0

Mmmmm...Tasty! I went from, "What am I going to do with a Cadaver and an Exhumer?" to, "I must find something to do with a Cadaver and an Exhumer!" I think all of these sculpts look pretty impressive in that they seems to very closely recreate the art while still looking good and well proportioned in 3D!

And that Mortis...there is a lot to digest in that picture. It LOOKS like there is some fairly detailed ground clutter cast into the base, and it looks like there is cast-in battle damage on the left torso and shoulder. There also looks like something is going on with that left leg around the thigh area, but I can't quite tell what. This seems like a much more 'cinematic' sculpt, for lack of a better word, than we usually see. It's got me pretty curious to see it in the flesh. By see, I of course mean, "Buy, if there are any left when I get to the exhibit hall!"

I think I like the look for the 'stomach' without the RL10 on the original a little better, but I admit I found it odd that there wast even really a hint of one in the -1A sculpt. Also, with the angle of the picture on IWM's site, the new Mortis has a...very happy pelvis. Seriously, all I can see is a smiley face down there! Anyway, minor silly comments aside, I am diggin' the new Mortis. I think it is my favorite of the three.

Yes. A very tight deadline to get it in time for GenCon meant not having time to create a second torso/head with the SRM attached. Hopefully it won't be a big deal once everything is cast and packaged. I'm not someone who wants extra little bits for no reason, so it wasn't something I'd have preferred. OTOH, getting some out and into people's hands at GenCon is a win for both IWM and CGL, making that concession much easier to swallow.

I found it easier to find ways to use the Cadaver (AS + FWL availability) than the Exhumer and Gravedigger, but that's going to come down to preference in play and faction. What I really had to do is go back to the picture and figure out why the Mortis' pelvis looked "happy"... now that I've seen it, I can't un-see it!  ;D It was a challenge to do something with it beyond the basic weapons swap. Hopefully most of the detail survived casting well and will inspire people to have fun painting it up. Attached are a few pics that may help shed some light on what all is going on.

Yes, from what I could tell the vast majority of your detail work survived into the master copy I got. Its now in my brothers hands to paint it up. I know he has the Orca almost done and he gave me the Black Knight Red Reaper already.

Hey Speck, two questions for you:
1. Were you at Historicon personally, doing inventory on Sunday?
2. Was the Shadow Hawk there in any other form than the primitive?

Yes I was at Historicon. The only shadow hawk there besides the reseen is the primitive.

Then it was likely you I asked to point out the primitive Griffin on Sunday.  Wish I'd know; I'd would have thanked you in person for the great information you've provided on this site particularly over that last couple of years.  Also, I'm glad I didn't miss out on the new release SHD.  Thanks.

Hey Speck,

Any chance of some hi-res photos of the IWM display?

Thanks!
