Rampage: the movie
« on: 17 November 2017, 01:22:15 »
Yeah, Warner Brothers decided to license the old 80s arcade game to make a movie.  They got Dwayne Johnson for it.  Trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coOKvrsmQiI

Oh boy. #P

One hopes that Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character's death comes at the hands of the white gorilla and is epic in its own way.

Movies made from Video Games have a bad track record. Even if you throw The Rock in it isn't a success....a little movie called Doom!

To be honest, i don't think there has been a successful video game to movie switch.  Not even Resident evil..

Well, the 1.2 billion it's grossed surely puts it into a commercial success at least.

that trailer had more plot than i have had in all the rampage games i've played combined. i am not certain how to feel about that besides "i was hoping for an hour of unexplained smashy-smash".

and to be honest, i'm always feeling that.

If this movie came out 20 years ago I would be all about it, but with the bad fx shots...maybe not.

Yep.
I think doing a adaptation of the game was gonna be hard enough with just going with the mutated critters. Then try and add a "Attack of Giant Werecreatures" angle? Yea, I don't think so...

I enjoyed the Mortal Combat movies. They are not Oscar winning caliber, but I thought they were FAR better than many other craptacular "game" movies like Super Mario Brothers.... shudders...

To be fair, Super Mario Brothers was just about the worst video game movie ever made.

See, there's no way to win that argument, because in order to do so you'd have to have seen both movies.  And after doing that it's hard to call yourself a winner.

I would give that title to any video game-based movie directed by Uwe Boll

There's a Minecraft movie coming out, and also a Sonic the Hedgehog one...

The first Tomb Raider wasn't so bad. (And I really wanna like Max Payne because I loved the first game so much, but the casting is atrocious and the story is just mangled in a very weird way.)

At least it is Chicago, and not LA, NY or DC like it most often is..
BUT i would for once, LOVE one of these films to destroy some OTHER city..  like maybe Va beach, Boulder Colorado, Portland Or, or hell Biloxi MS!!
