Any Word on the Database Errors?
« on: 16 October 2017, 04:29:22 »
While the forum was down, I did some poking around on Simple Machine's site, and it seems the "Database Error" problem is pretty common, but has a number of potential causes.  Hopefully the cause was identified...

We don't have a report from the back-end support, but looks to me like indexing went spare for a while.

Thanks for the follow up!

And I see Cray has been active again, if you want to point him at that jump gate thread from a couple weeks ago...

I got one database error this morning, but it was different than what was happening last time.  And it went away the first time I tried to reload the page.

I got them occasionally the first day the forums were back up but after a reload they loaded right and haven't had any since then.

I've had a couple of more issues today, but the second one went away after one reload like the first.  The third, though... that took about half a dozen reloads to clear.  The "error" is also different than last time.  Instead of an SMF error with the forum skin, it was plain text on a white background.

Thanks for the updates, folks.

Trying to follow through on this - looks like a resource issue, not a crash. "MySQL has gone away" is a curious error message  ???
