New FGC
« on: 29 March 2014, 16:44:26 »
Hey all. I'm making this thread to inform people about(and hopefully recruit for) the FGC thats been created on Intelser.

Its set in 3040, just after the War or 3039, and well before Operation Revival. There is currently a decent number of players, with the 5 Great Houses and the FRR represented by 2 players each. The Periphery realms arn't active at the moment because there isn't a large enough player population to support them and the rest of the IS.

That is where you guys come in! We welcome any and everyone to head over to www.intelser.org/forums and make a profile(if you had one in the past, it was recently deleted along with a host of malicious spambot accounts) and join in the game!. The game has not started yet, although all the pieces are in place for it to begin. So if yo want to get in on the game from the very beginning, this is your chance.

If you have any questions about the game before you head over to intelser, I'd be happy to answer them :)

It would be fun to roleplay.

Granted the magistracy of canopus also has purchased ranks. I wouldnt want to drag any faction down with dramatic ineptitude.

FGC = Fan Grand Council

These harken back to the days of yore (at least two board crashes ago). At first they were very unstructured with little or no rule. Mainly it was ad hoc roleplaying. Eventually it became more structured and more heated until it was bascially forced of the official boards and to fan-based sites. I believe this current site is the 3rd fan-based site to host an FGC of one stripe or another.

Possibly the Intelser forum is a better place to discuss how they're going to run their FGC than here. Happy to see discussion here that it's happening there, but it does live on their forums.

Okay. Fair enough.
But I was just asking what a FGC was...serious RP, just in-character joking around...

Its a combination of Risk-style strategic game and serious(as serious as your character anyways) RP. The strategic game is mostly played by the Faction Heads

They can be a lot of fun, and don't have a steep entry requirement if you don't want it.     They mainly serve to give a focus for MegaMek / RP, though I do enjoy the strategy aspect as well.  You also can get a lot of satisfaction in killing off famous people.  Last game I was in I accounted for Phelan Kell, Archer, and Adam Steiner just to name a few.

I'm definitely interested in getting a few more people to help with the FWL.  It's hard to RP that many subfactions with only one other person.

In case people were curious about progress of the game:

Every faction has at least 2 players(my LC is a bit shaky on that, AW has some fun things he's trying to do that I'm not privy to, so I may or may not be solo at game start), but never the less, the game has a decent number of players to begin with.

Every FH has their sheet, and Turn 0 sheets(basically unit postings) are due the 5th.

If everyone gets their stuff in on time, we should be kicking off on the 15th of April! So if anyone else is interested, head on over and make an account. I'll have to activate it for you, so don't be alarmed that you can't see anything before your account is active.

If you're interested but not in the main IS powers, then I suggest you recruit more people so we can have the Periphery opened up! :P

Simply head over to the website linked above, register for an account (may take several days, they're pretty nervous about spambots), then once your account is confirmed, find the faction sign up thread and tell them who you want to play for.

huh? wha?? :P

the best way to make sure that I don't ignore your account being made is to either A: make your name the same name you have here on the CBT boards, or B: like Dis said, shoot me a PM here with the account name you made so I know it's not a spambot.

I thought I'd give a short overview over the turn 1 - some stats that might not be visible for everyone :)

1 Faction did a Sudden Development roll - and was successful
1 Faction got attacked by Periphery powers
1 Is Power attacked the Periphery
1 IS power invaded another IS power
2 Periphery powers attacked IS powers
3 Sudden events happened in turn 0-1
13 Topics is the private board with the most threads (11 the second most / 1 the fewest)
4 Fields of research have seen DP's invested into (yes all fields were researched)
1 Field had more DP than the other 3 Fields combined
All factions (besides the FRR) have 2 or more players

Will the 5th Succession War begin with turn 2?  Would you like to know more?

We are only hours away from the turn 2 deadline and all but 2 Factions have sent in their orders.

Turn two is likely to see even more violence than turn 1 - this will be interesting!

Intelser is taking a break for a bit. It was hard to get new people interested in a long term strategy game. A few of the players are looking into building a unit in http://www.battletech-mercenaries.com/index.php contact Daemonknight228 if you have any questions.

the link is still http://intelser.org/forums/index.php
