Gray Death Skirmish Armour
« on: 07 August 2016, 20:57:18 »
Looking for an upgrade to use with the MW:DA GD Scout bases I have ... unfortunately, as hard as I tried, I couldn't get an LRM on there (the smallest non one-shot launchers are all too big for the arms or body, alas).

So I went a little vanilla, and ended up with this. The concept would be that post-Jihad, the IP of the Gray Death equipment would be open to becoming "abandonware", and I could easily see arms manufacturers (particularly in other realms than the LA) relying on the problems of cross-juristiction legal challenges to cover them. The role has changed from pure scout, to something with a little more bite - the David being a viable threat to other BA, especially at the lighter end.

(And it tips the armour up so the IS medium laser is no longer an insta-kill. Technically I could have gone with 6 points and an LMG, but sometimes you go with the flavour, no?)

Comments sought as always, and (barring major changes) I'll knock some up this coming weekend.

W.

Just of curiosity, why not use magclamps?

Not enough slot space

Slots, short form. Mag clamps need 2 slots, it's four for the armour plus one for the david, out of 6 available. Otherwise, yes.

One could go for basic stealth, add the mag clamps, and have 25kg (and no slots) to play with the claws.

AFAIK a light BA has 8 slots total (2 each in the arms, 4 in the body) so you have space for MagClamps or improved stealth armor.

Also, if you want a "sniper gun" there is the MRM1... Low accuracy and just 4 rounds of ammo, but it lets you hit out to 15 hexes.

Ahh yes, slots. Forgot about the difference between the stealth armors.

Love the armor, btw. It's pretty close to perfect, IMHO.

You missed the jump boosters

You're currently using 8 slots: 4 armor, 2 jump booster, 1 MWM, 1 David.

To fit the magclamps, you'd need to reduce the armor to basic stealth and drop the MWM, leaving 45kg spare - battle claw and an extra 1MP of ground move perhaps?

David isn't in a MWM, it's fixed.

You'll need to tweak the design then if that was your intent as it's currently showing a MWM on the RA, and the David LGR on the mount.

Weapons and Equipment                Loc     Shots  Slots    Mass
------------------------------------------------------------------
Modular Weapon Mount                 RA          -      1       10
David Light Gauss Rifle              Mount      15      1      100
