Getting my artillery shots as cheap as possible

Hello guys,

ich have a question concerning my Artillery Lance and how 'cheap' their indirect fire artillery attacks can get at best. I'm not sure if i have thought of all possible modifications...
Let me give you an example:

My Lance:
My Artillery Lance consists of 2x Schiltron Prime and two Chaparral Missile Tanks. So all 4 units have the ART-AIS special ability. Per ASC p. 152 they fulfill the requirements for an Artillery Fire Lance and two of them should get the Oblique Artillery Man special ability. All units should have a basic skill of 4.

My Position:
I leave my Artillery Lance less than 34" away from its POI and it stands behind a hill. No artillery tank has LOS to the POI. All artillery units are at a standstill.

My Spotter:
I have a spotting unit with PRB and TAG within LOS of the POI. The spotting unit is not firing itself.

The To-Hit-Number:
Now i am trying to calculate the to-hit-number for one of my Artillery Tanks getting the Oblique Artillery Man SPA and i hope that you can tell me if this is right or wrong.

To-Hit-Number =

4 (Skill of the firing Tank)
+ 7 (Artillery using indirect fire)
-1 (Firing unit is at a standstill)
- 1 (Spotter when attack fired)
- 2 (Spotter has TAG for Arrow IV)
- 1 (Oblique Artillery Man)

= 7 ???

If memory serves correctly, your +7 is incorrect.  Artillery is treated as long range, so it would be +4 for range and +1 for indirect.

It looks like he's talking about the full artillery rules, not the simplified 'standard' rules. Did they somehow add that TAG benefits normal indirect shots?

Standard rules and advanced rules artillery have separate modifiers.

Advanced rules Artillery (found p73-76):  there's no attacker movement modifier listed for indirect attacks. Direct fire is modified by attacker movement modifiers, but then you don't have a spotter so there would be no spotter modifiers.
There's no modifier for TAG.  In advanced rules TAG is used with homing rounds and have a different use.

Standard rules artillery (found only in AS errata)

Long Range 4
Indirect 1
Area Effect 1
TAG -1
Stand Still -1
Oblique -1
7+
