Reaper Armaments did have a good sales speech, and the original idea for a 50-ton tank with both an AC, a heavy laser, and SRMs moving at medium mech speeds (80+ kph) sounded like a very good deal. Until the price and armor protection came into focus...
And then the advanced lasers and SRMs became available, with their extra weight. But the procurement contract was already signed, and thus the Stormcloud "medium" tank was born - and SLDF tankers got another headache. :D
