Design Challenge: Bare-bones upgrades

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to take a SINGLE Invasion-era or later weapon system and install it on an Introtech 3025 design, making a viable combatant in the process.

THE RULES:

- There will be no duplicate systems. You can't stack multiples of your chosen weapon onto your chosen chassis. You have ONE new weapon to play with, though which one is your choice.

- Remove what you need to in order to both make room for the new weapon, and create a viable combatant.

Here's my choice, one I've posted before. Removing the missile systems on a -2H Shadow Hawk leaves me with exactly enough space to install a MML-5. Since I consider a -2H Shadow Hawk's role in the Civil War era or later to be a support fighter making use of specialty ammunition, it fits perfectly, and increases short-range firepower if you decide to haul around standard SRMs.

ERPPC into a Vindicator VND-1R. 3025 pilots ride the heat curve, and it'll be childs play to handle this refit.

HPPC for an Orion ON1-K's AC-10 and ammo. Extra tonnage made free topped up with heat sinks. Brawl that off, Lyrans!

I prefer Blazer Cannons personally... You can legally have them in 3025, and the heat almost guarantees you're only putting one in with single heat sinks (yes, a sufficiently large and slow assault 'mech can fit two, or three if they want to really overheat).

When limited to a single weapon trade and no freezer upgrades, trading old autocannons for Gauss and LB-X are probably the best bang for the buck.

HCT-3F:  Trade AC/10 and ammo for LB 10-X, 2 tons of ammo, and 1.0 ton of something else (armor?).
ENF-4R:  Trade AC/10 and ammo for LB 10-X and 2 tons of ammo.
CN9-A:  Trade AC/10 and ammo for LB 10-X, 2 tons of ammo, and 1.0 ton of something else (armor?).
ON-1K:  Trade AC/10 and ammo for LB 10-X, 2 tons of ammo, and 1.0 ton of something else (armor?).

HBK-4G:  Trade AC/20, ammo, small laser, and 0.5 ton of armor for Gauss cannon and 2 tons of ammo.
VTR-9B:  Trade AC/20 and ammo for Gauss cannon and 2 tons of ammo.

No designer handy right now, but:

SHD-2H: drop AC/5, LRM-5 and SRM-2 for either a Blazer and 17 SHS total or a HPPC and 16 SHS.

UM-R60: drop the AC/10. Add a Blazer and 4 SHS, for 15 SHS total.

AS7-WGS: Drop the AC/20 for an HPPC. Total of 2 PPC, 1 HPPC, and 32 SHS.

MML for Mechs with single LRM and SRM launcher make sense

Options that come in mind
Wyvern,
Cylcops
Thunderbolt (downgrad vor Long upgrade for Short) same for the Orion
Commando and Valkyrie could be a option too.

Centurion CN9-D - replace AC10 with Plasma Rifle and heat sinks, keep 2 ammo bays.

Enforcer ENF-4D - replace AC10 with RAC5, add ammo bay and medium laser, nix small laser for armor.

BNC-3S, replace AC/10 with LBX-AC/10, add extra heat sink.

I figure the BNC-3S is already dangerous enough, and that simple modification really doesn't do much aside from give all three 'primary' weapons nearly identical range.

Granted it's only a slight increase in armor but that's four tons of ammo you could dip into for more tonnage, or perhaps nuking the lasers for more plate.  Either way, this definitely is bad news for air power near it.

In the spirit of the challenge, I will refrain from pointing out that XLFE, LFE or Endosteel are all technically 1 item  O:-) Consider however:

Take one Awesome 8Q,
-minus 0.5 ton armor, 5 heat sinks (23 total), small laser
-add Radical Heat Sink System, 2 medium lasers

Round 1, run and fire 3 PPCs, heat 32, sink 23, balance 9 heat
Round 2, run and fire 3 PPCs, heat 9+32=41, activate RHSS, sink 46, balance -5
repeat...

You can add the MLs and really punish someone at the 3-hex sweet spot. Alternatively, take the same Awesome 8Q, but instead

-minus 0.5 ton armor, 1 PPC, 6 heat sinks (22 total), small laser
-add Radical Heat Sink System, 10 medium lasers

You now have a Warlord.

Obviously going clan tech gives you the most bang for the buck. 

I would take the solid Panther 9R and swap the PPC for a clan Large Pulse. 
Same heat and damage but more range and the great -2 bonus. 
Also it is a ton lighter so I can add a 14th heat sink to make it heat neutral firing the laser while jumping 4. 

I think if you use it vs other lights and low end mediums it has a good lifespan as a nasty sniper, but don't expect it live against heavies.

How about a Plasma Rifle with added sinks/ammo? Same range and damage as an AC10 and more of a versatile threat again st vehicles and infantry. Also, extra heat vs single sink mechs.
