Cicada & arm-reversing
« on: 20 September 2017, 22:11:16 »
Kinda, sorta, maybe, had to post this ;)

weapons in those arms backward. It must be both arms..."

Pretty tricky shoot'n from this Cicada!

Could be an abstraction of a torso twist where one arm fires into the "rear" of the mech and the other fires in "front" based on where the legs are.
This just looks cooler than a twisted torso, and dang is that art cool.

Aren't the cicada lasers in the torso?

Mediums in the arms, small in the torso. (At least on the box-set standard model)

Not according to the control sheets...  :(

From sarna.net
Though most of the artwork shows that the medium lasers are mounted in the Cicada's arms, according to the official record sheets and TRO: 3039 they are installed in the side torsos. It is unclear if this is intentional or an error that never was fixed.

Huh. I admit I don't have the books handy right now at my office, but... yeah, I guess I never realized that. (Which goes to show how often I give the non-PPC Cicadas a sideways glance)

Intriguing.

if it's an error, it goes back to the very earliest days of the game

Yup. The Cicada merely has clipped wings. No talons there. Just an evil glare.

Ah, the good ol' days... when it wasn't terribly difficult to memorize the equipment tables (and TRO for that matter).  :-X

That's an impressive number of Roll Agains.

It has one less piece of equipment than the basic standard, no equipment mech.

+3 slots for lasers, -4 slots for removing lower arms and hands.  It is a candidate for least criticals used (Without going to compact engine, compact gyro, small cockpit)
No-Dachi has a counter-argument. Nothing further? Ok.
