It feels like you are trying to do a mix of the 5M and 5S with the results ending up with something that cost quite a bit more with a mixed mission.  With that many machine guns hooked and both hooked into an array you have devoted the same tonnage to a ER Large Laser.  I don't know why it is on this design except to offer token range fire.  Once you are in firing range with the bulk of your anti infantry weapons, so are the infantry.  While I'm sure you will nuke a conventional infantry platoon, it is a large expense which something else could have otherwise handled in a more cost effective manner.

If you want a range weapon I would go with a Plasma Rifle.  It does full damage to infantry and an additional 2D6 for heat.  It will also be equally good against anything else.  Keep the flamers if you would like and the other lasers.  You can downgrade the engine to a light if you feel so inclined or use the extra tonnage for armor or sinks.

Pretty much the difference of one opinion vs another.

Having played this in several games involving Infantry, BA, and even a few tanks, it does surprisingly well if you think about your goals and what you're doing. It's a pretty decent bug killer too, and the ERLL is an improvement over the old AC/2 in retaining "token range fire". While the armor isn't the greatest, it's a vast improvement and it has a higher BV than any other Vulcan model I'm familiar with and it's cheaper than the VL-5S, VL-5Sr, VL-6M, VL-6P, and even the VL-6M-UK models.

Not the greatest mech, but honestly what 40 tonner is?
