Expressing my inner pirate

Pirates are one of my favorite factions in the game.  They use interesting tactics and their own unique brand of modified mechs.  They are also one of the factions you can play in almost every time period.  I hope that this thread will become a place for anyone to put their spin on the art of Piracy in the future of warfare.  Here is my humble entry, feel free to comment or post your own designs.

Overview:
The "Prye" was a modified Cicada operated by the Pirate Jay Stroud during the
waning years of the Star League.  Stroud was a disaffected member of the SLDF
with plenty of ambition and a distrust of authority.  When fate presented
Stroud the opportunity, he went AWOL, taking his assigned CDA-2A Cicada with
him.


Capabilities:
The Prye's Pitban 320 engine had been replaced with a Hermes 360 extra-light
engine, apparently stolen or salvaged from a Lancelot.  A Holly SRM-4 launcher
was installed in each arm.  Both launchers were fed  by a single ton of SRM
Inferno Ammo stored in the center torso.  Finally, an additional ton of armor
was installed across the arms, legs, and side torsos of the Pyre.


Battle History:
Pirate Jay Stroud used the Pyre's increased speed to quickly strike his
opponents, disengage, and move out of range.  The Prye's supply of Inferno SRMs
were used against vehicles, infantry formations, and targets of opportunity. 
It was these very same weapons of terror that ended Jay Stroud's career as a
pirate.  During Stroud's final raid, a milita tank found a weak point in the
Pyre's armor, igniting the Inferno Ammo.

Overview:
Pirate Lucille Greene was a down and out mercenary who broke contract and went
rogue after several disagreements with her employer.  Lucille aquired and
modified a very battered Panther, and struck out for Port Krin.


Capabilities:
The Neko (Japanese world for cat) was in poor shape when Lucille Greene
obtained her.   Several heat sinks were destroyed, and the Lord's Light PPC was
beyond repair.  Lucille reduced the number of heatsinks to 10, and shaved off
1/2 ton of armor.  She replaced the PPC with a Delta Dart LRM-15 supplied with
two tons of ammo.  A Sperry Browning Machine Gun was installed in each side
torso for defense against infantry.  Both Machine Guns were fed by 1/2 ton of
ammo.


Battle History:
Lucille Greene raided worlds from the Federated Suns, Draconis Combine, and the
Outworlds Alliance.  It was in the Outworlds Alliance that Lucille and Neko
would meet their fate. The light bug mechs of the Alliance Military Corps were
easy prey for Neko.  However, Lucille had not yet received any intelligence on
the AMC's new battlemech, the Merlin.  Lucille and Neko were caught completely
by surpise on their last raid.  After a long dual with a Merlin, Neko ran out
of ammo, and was picked apart by the heavy mech.

Overview:
The Dark Caste has been known to use high technology like battlemechs for their
own goals.  One such infamous machine was a modified Banshee known as
"Killroy".  The identity of the pilot(s) and/or tech(s) who operated and
maintained Killroy is not known.  The name comes from  an obscure cartoon from
20th century history emblazened on the front torso of the bandit mech.


Capabilities:
Killroy's Magna Hellstar PPC had been removed, and replaced with four Medium
Lasers of various manufacture, making Killroy into a deadly close range
brawler.  The communication system was augmented by the installation of three
additonal tons of custom assembled communications gear, granting Killroy's
pilot the ability to uplink to satellites, or if necessary generate an ECCM
field.


Battle History:
As with all tales of the evil doings of the Bandit Caste, one must take the
time to seperate fact from myth.  Killroy appeared on the battlefield leading
raids on clan holdings the same year that the mysterious Minnesota Tribe raided
worlds of the Draconis Combine.  What battle footage remains shows that the
pilot of Killroy would quickly manuever close to opponents to bring the array
of Medium Lasers to bare.  Killroy's pilot would also use dishonorable physical
attacks, often punching or kicking smaller mechs, and charging larger targets. 
After two decades of battle, Killroy simply disappeared, living on only in
tales told to frighten young warrior canidates.

Overview:
The "Dirge" was a modifed Dragon used by the Malcontents.  The Malcontents were
a sometimes mercenary, sometimes pirate command that appeared in the Periphery
in 3053.


Capabilities:
The Dirge was converted from a fire support role into a brawler by the use of
recovered technology.  The Imerator-A Autocannon/5 and the Telos DecaCluster
LRM-10 were removed.  In their place, a Kali Yama LB 10-X autocannon was
installed in the right arm, and two Coventry T4H Streak SRM-2 racks in the
center torso.  Two tons of LB 10-X ammo and one ton of Streak SRM-2 ammo were
safely stored in the CASE protected right torso.  The ten tons of Starshield
armor was removed and replaced with nine and one half tons of Lexington Ltd.
High Grade ferro-fibrous armor.  The armor allocation for the right torso and
arm were maximized to increase protection of the LB-X autocannon and the ammo
storage.


Battle History:
The Dirge served the Malcontents during contracts with the Circinus Federation
and the Marion Hegemony.  Inbetween contracts, the Malcontents conducted raids
in the Free Worlds League and the Lryan half of the Federated Commonwealth.


Deployment:
The Dirge, along with the rest of the Malcontents, dissappeared in 3057, only
to reappear years later as a formation within the Word of Blake Militia.

Overview:
The Swivel Gun was a Modified Swayback 4H that operated out of the Tortuga
Dominions.


Capabilities:
The Swivel Gun had several upgrades.  For its big gun the autocannon 10 was
replaced by a LB-10 X supplied with two tons of ammo stored in a CASE protected
bay.  Four Rocket Launcher 15's have been mounted to increased fire power. The
thirteen single heat sinks were replaced by ten double strength freezers.  The
armor was removed and replaced by lighter ferro-fibrous armor.


Battle History:
The Swivel Gun was seen in various raiding parties attacking worlds of the
Federated Suns, Tauran Concordant, and Outworlds Alliance.  The Swivel Gun was
destroyed in the Fltvelt Coaltion's invansion of Tortoga Prime.

Overview:
MacKenzie was a warrior of few words when he signed on with Morrison's
Extractors.  His main goal was not getting rich or gaining glory.  His sole
purpose was the constant upkeep and upgrading of his Swayback "Outlaw".


Capabilities:
Outlaw was a modified Swayback 4N.   MacKenzie was convinced that whoever
struck the most blows in battle won, and his modifications to Outlaw emphasized
weapon accuracy.  The key piece of equipment installed in Outaw was a stolen
targeting computer.  To make room for the targeting computer, the fourteen
standard heatsinks were removed and replaced with ten double strength freezers.
The medium lasers were replaced with extended range models, and tied into the
targeting computer, along with the AC/5.  Artemis IV FCS was added to both LRM
5 launchers to improve the damage that they delivered.  The small laser was
removed to make room for CASE protection of the ammo bays.  Finally, the ten
tons of standard armor was replaced with eight tons of Heavy Ferro-Fibrous,
maintaining virtually the same amount of protection for less mass.


Battle History:
MacKenzie used Outlaw in serveral raids for the Extractors.  He was known for
his excellent weapons fire/hit ratio, and cool demeanor in battle. Eventually
MacKenzie would rise to command a lance of Morrison's Extractors.


Deployment:
Bad intell spelled doom for both MacKenzie and Outlaw.  MacKanzie lead his
lance on a raid in Clan Jade Falcon territory against a world reported to only
be defended by a handful of tanks and infantry.  Upon landing, MacKenzie soon
discovered that a Provisonal Cluster equipped with second line Clan mechs
awaited him in battle.  While his dropship made it off world, MacKenzie and the
rest of his lance where never heard from again.
