Are inferno SRMs "Intro" tech?
« on: 16 January 2018, 10:38:19 »
The subject says it all. Are inferno SRMs considered "Intro" tech? I'd be tempted to say no, despite the fact that inferno SRM ammunition is a fairly primitive technology that never went "extinct" even in the Inner Sphere.

They were present in the 3025 base rule book, but possibly not the simplified rules that shipped with the box set.  They could only be fired from SRM-2 launchers, the ability to use them in -4 and -6 launchers was a later change.

They are Succession Wars tech, but not usually included in "intro" games/rules.

So if you are playing Succession Wars, yes they are available. If you are doing an intro game, it is not recommended (since players are still learning heat management).
No-Dachi has a counter-argument. Nothing further? Ok.

Pretty much what he says . . .

I think if you are playing intro with infantry and armor inferno should be included because they are the counter to those sorts of things.

Alongside Flamers(which have short range) and MGs(Which have short range and explosive ammo).

Flamers & MGs have short range and do not get chances to instantly kill vehicles.
