It ended up looking a great deal like the Wulfen.

I think it's a big improvement on the old icon, FWIW. The old one looked like an oversized Night Hawk.

I'd like to think I did an okay job.
More like threw it out the ballpark. I'll echo Kojak, better than the original.

That Lynx looks awesome. It's one of my favorite 'Mechs (though I don't get to use it as much as I'd like) so I'm sure that new art will get some use!

Um, I just noticed that you appear to have posted the -8Q twice instead of, presumably, the -9C.

The Yu Huang was a request, so my code of honour (I have one, I got character points back for it) said I had to draw it, no matter how much the idea scared the hell out of me. Because it's one hell of a complex design, what with its celestial god emperor styling and weird arms and everything else. On the other hand, it does look insanely cool and, well, a new icon was desperately needed.

On the upside, I am very happy with the result. This may be one of my most complex icons so far.

Today's post was actually only a recent addition to the request list. However, it was high on my "personal annoyance" list, so that means it got bumped all the way up. And besides, who doesn't want 100 tons of axe-wielding, fire-breathing, 'Mechs stomping, optimally foam rubber clad assault 'Mech goodness? So here's the Berserker. Have fun.

(Unless you're in one of my games, where Berserkers tend to die embarrassing deaths)

Today I pass what was technically a triple request. The War Dog was going to be the next icon I draw, but then it got bumped up to a double. Plus it was on my own "personal annoyance" list because it has two different icons and they're both hideous.

That being said, it was also one of the biggest challenges that I have ever faced, simply due to it's bizzare shape. Even by 3055 standards, it's a weirdo, and its mismatching arms only ad to that. Trying to fit a Heavy Gauss onto the icon while figuring how it would sit with its shape was a challenge, to say the least. On the other hand, I now never need to draw it again. Ever.

Thanks for making the new Berserker icons, they look awesome.  Since the original printing of 3055 that has been my favorite mech and the reprint with it on the cover was awesome.  And I can empathize about losing the Berserkers in your matches, mine usually go out due to a torso or gyro before getting to do much damage.

I've been drawing a lot of challenging icons of late. There's a pattern here. Clearly all you people who make requests are sadists.

Ahem.

Anyway, here's the Lao Hu, which is probably the most asymmetrical 'Mech I have ever drawn. So much so that I couldn't use my traditional approach. In the end, I basically had to craft everything individually with minimal around of copying and flipping. On the upside, the variants were similar once I got started, so yay for that.

Oh man, I've been looking forward to seeing how you did this one, the old icon was so clunky-looking. Now it looks like a proper Lao Hu.

Amazingly enough, I'm actually nearing the end of the request list - sort of. More on that to come.

In the meantime, here's the Enfield, which is sort of Collateral Damage to the Enforcer. Sort of. At any rate, it was relatively easy to handle, and its variants were minor enough to just be some tweaking. Easy. Which after the last few, was something I needed.

...and then I look at what's up next.

I spoke too soon. Just as I thought I was through my list, I got attacked with several more requests. Do you do this on purpose?

At any rate, here's another request, in the form of the Wolf Trap. This... wasn't too bad, actually. Easy draw, few variants, much needed update. I didn't mind it artificially extending my list for this one. The other requests, on the other hand...

Conversely, this request was... a mess.

The Mauler is a complex 'Mech to draw at the best of times, but the 4X "Todesbote" variant from XTRO: Most Wanted (And a specific request) is so different to the others that it needed a massive amount of reworking before it I was happy (which is a lie, as I'm never happy). Added to that, it also triggered not one but two collateral damage 'Mechs in the form of the Daboku and the Banzai. Fortunately, the former is identical enough to the base Mauler to use the same icon. The latter, on the other hand...

Interestingly enough, the Banzai is on the DCMS RATs in ER:3145. And an explosively fun time was had by all.

And now here's the end of the (public) request list. Don't worry, there's still a lot to come. In the meantime, have a rather epic finale. It's a one-of-a-kind prototype 'Mech that is so horribly min-maxed it'd be laughable if it wasn't so damned devastating. It's the Rifleman III, and it's a bomb on stilts. I love it.

Tune in next post to see what's on the second request list. Or just PM me more.

Why would you have to dig for stuff that's included in the releases as they happen?

Anyway, his new thread should link to the old one. Always.
