The mechanics are very similar.http://dicelog.com
would be used for all roles (to prohibit funny stuff).
We'd roll for initiative as usual. Each movement (declared by email) would be marked on the board image with symbols to detail what moved, how far and movement type. (To speed things up we could move whole lances, or two units at a time).
Once all movement is declared, the image would be updated to show the final unit positions and to-hit modifier dice.
All fire will be declared at the same time (again by email), then resolved at the same time.
Heat, damage and ammo will be tracked on record sheet images.
In terms of campaigning:
we can use just about any scenario/track, published or custom. We'd replace the scenario units with units from your force, probably ton-for-ton by mass (this is where we break from canon).
The Chaos Campaign system will likely be employed with the C-Bill equivalent for SPs to pay for refits and upgrades.
Where to start?
Let's say at least a company sized force. Rarely would all be used at once but you'd mix and match for the task at hand. The formula I've been thinking about allows 120mil for your base units, and another 12mil for ammo, armor and equipment stockpiles.
