Maxi's not Mini's
« on: 13 February 2013, 23:46:45 »
I found this site via friends at MechWarrior living legends.Net

http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/

Ive been playing since the 80's. We moved from lead mini's to "Maxis" back in the day

With your permission i'll share some pics of them here
(Note these are made for my personal use, ive never sold one or traded one, nor would i ever do so.)

I modelled these on the Black Knight cover art for the game MW4 black knight expansion

The nice thing about this scale is you can build articulation into them
While both these were modelled on the MW4 Mercs designs, the standing one has the more traditional battle fist on its left arm

They all torso twist, as well as having full articulation of the arms ,legs and head (where applicable)

They are not all MW4 designs though, This is "Black Angus" my CBT Atlas

No chest missile ports because i ran a varient that swapped them out for large lasers on the hands.

Still a sexy beast imo  ;D

Some behind the camera info.......

When im done with the detail i paint them silver, i call these the "blanks" i then make a supersaturated saline solution (boil salt in water till no more will disolve)
Then i spatter the blanks in this and let it dry, i then give them the skin/cammo they are destined for and when the paint is dry rub off the salty bits.

The result shows in the closeup below

Are these big enough that you could, say, mechanize them, and make them remote control? Have you or anyone you know tried?

To quote the Joker, "Where does he get those cool toys?!"
How would one go about crafting such items. These would be even more fun than garden gnomes.
OHHHH garden Gnomes!  O0
