Clan Wolf Rho Galaxy "The Altered Beasts" 3145

Since departing Galatea, Rho galaxy has focused primarily on housekeeping and training, shoring themselves up and repairing from previous conflicts. a trip was made through the narrowest of the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone, trialing the falcons for safcon to reach and return from the Rasalhague Dominion. In the Dominion contact was made with Clan Ghost Bear in order to return a wayward cub to their family. Bondsman Brynjar Jorgensson was taken from the falcons during the Galatea Campaign, and while he would have made a fine addition to Clan Wolf, the opportunity to ransom him for some material for his Supernova Trinary and build friendly contacts within Clan Ghost Bear was too appealing for Star Captain Jonathan Demos to pass up.

Trading Brynjar back to the bears netted Jonathan the amicable relations that he sought as well as a star of Huey AAA tanks to round out his Armor Supernova Trinary. Jonathan is practically a cluster unto himself within the 15th. But the mission to exchange the bondsman for the tanks did not go perfectly smooth. While on Sabik, Both Wolf and Bear forces were attacked by parties unknown. The force attacking Clan Wolf came in the colors of the 5th bear guards, and the force attacking the Bears wore the 15th assault's colors. Neither attempt went successfully, and due to the fact that dismounted representatives of each clan happened to be nearby during both engagements it was swiftly determined that this was a pair of simultaneous false flag operations.

No survivors provided any useful information during interrogation, however their genes unraveled the story more effectively than any interrogative tactics. One of the pilots captured had a familiar ancestry. Ghost Bear scientists working with the watch operatives attached to the 15th were able to identify an ancestor of the man. This captive happened to be descended from a member of Clan Wolf's Delta Galaxy, who went over to the Republic at the end of the Jihad. Combined with previous raids upon their base at Deep Fields and other reports circulating Rho's commanders became fairly certain that somehow a force from within the Fortress, or one intentionally left behind outside of the fortress, was launching spoiler and harassment attacks on those who might threaten the republic's survival.

Unable to penetrate the fortress walls, yet feeling the need to extract a price for these underhanded tactics, it was decided that the 15th Assault would travel to Alhena in the republic remnant and give Jonathan Demos a chance to sharpen his claws and unify his supernova trinary. Deployed in full force, his Supernova Trinary could not find an equal among the defenders, and Jonathan soundly defeated those who stood between him and the munition and parts stockpile that was his objective. Katrine and her trinary stood off a force of Triarii Protectors who thought to imperil the dropships and the rear of Jonathan's trinary, striking so soundly against the thrust that the would-be attackers stood down almost immediately. Disdainful of the mechs they possessed and of the operators, Katrine took no isorla from the fight, bonded no warriors. Instead, she sent Ivy and the Mixed Arms Group to loot their stockpiles as well.

Back home on Deep Fields, integration exercises began, welcoming Star Captain Dwight Radick and his trinary, all that survived of some brutal fighting between the 22nd Regulars Cluster and Clan Jade Falcon. Now attached to the 3rd Jaegers, Star Captain Radick's own star delivered a sound defeat to Star Colonel Andreus Sender and his men in the mock battle that welcomed them to the pack.

Mechwarrior Profile

Star Colonel Andreus Sender is primarily only remarkable for how unremarkable he is. Graduated from his sibko as a mechwarrior, he slowly ground his way to the top, never advancing more than a single rank at a time. He learned the game of clan politics well enough to secure himself the opportunity to win a bloodname, and though he possesses one, it is neither a prestigious heritage, nor was his win impressive. He prevailed not through any great strategy or skill, but primarily through outlasting his opponents and standing clear of the avalanche that swept away his final competitor.

Had fate seen fit to leave him no more than a Star Commander or Star Captain, his lack of vision would not be a terrible hinderance. Some might even say that his competent yet uninspired performance makes for the perfect second star commander in a trinary, one whom you can count on to carry out orders to the letter without argument, one whom you will not have to worry over much about usurpation from. However, Andreus has risen above his level of competence, and emboldened by this, he continues to reach higher.

Still, Star Colonel Sender is a loyal member of Clan Wolf, and in these times every trueborn warrior is needed. While once his advancing age would have been a wonderful reason to see him step back a rank and reassigned to a second line outfit, it is unlikely that in our current climate we will see him demoted unless one of his subordinates rises to challenge him. Of those in his command, Paterno Carns does not seem to desire the rank, John Kerensky is an Elemental and preoccupied with his trinary, as is Star Captain Lenz (who is also unbloodnamed), and Dwight Radick is too new for the cluster to accept as leader.

Mechwarrior Profile

Based on sibko testing records and upon interviews with her fellow warriors, it is our estimation that Star Commander Alexis Ward is being held back by her current placement. Assigned to the 3rd Jagers, a middle of the road, low prestige cluster to begin with, Alexis has been assigned an outdated mech and her advancement is limited by placement directly below the mediocre Star Colonel of her cluster.

Alexis is glad to be assigned an omnimech, even a dated one such as the Woodsman gives her a feeling of pride in a time and cluster where a mechwarrior is lucky to have a mech of clan construction much less a versatile omnimech. She can hardly agitate for a better assignment, since even inner sphere built omnimechs are a prize, but her woodsman does show it's age. Rho technicians have done their best to update the dated electronics of the mech, and it does not suffer from any debilitating quirks, but it would hardly be the first choice of most warriors.

Alexis suffers these limitations with dignity and patience, recognizing that there is more to being a warrior than advancing in rank. In his youth Her Star Colonel could have stood to learn from a warrior like her. Though she may not ascend in rank, she savors her every assignment to battle. In fact, at her level, she likely has greater access to the battlefield than those of loftier rank.

If she DOES wish to advance in rank, it is our estimation that her best chances lie in catching the eye of a star captain in the fifteenth, or another more prestigious cluster. She may also be able to obtain a better mech through trial as well. Or perhaps the battlefields that await may yield rich isola unto her. Taking a better mech as a trophy would certainly go far in proving her worth.

Josh Ward has attained the rank of Galaxy Commander, and now leads the entirety of Rho Galaxy from the Cobalt Keshik. Leaving the care and keeping of his former cluster in the capable hands of his successor Katrine Kerensky, Josh is focused on improving the quality of his keshik forces and on bringing up the level of quality in Rho’s other two clusters. The addition of a new trinary of hardened veterans to the 3rd Jaegers, is just one such improvement he has overseen.

He continues to pilot a Warwolf Omnimech, prefering the mobility that a heavy mech affords over an assault mech’s protective bulk. Likewise, he continues to favor the Alpha configuration, unable to find a combination of weapons he prefers more than the A config. If he does utilize another mech, it will likely be a design with considerations for force command, such as the Cyclops, Atlas or other such mechs designed to lead large forces.

An unknown force, presumed from mech makeup and our best hunches, to originate within either the fortress or republic remnant has begun raiding and disruption operations on Deep Fields. While the 15th Assault is away on raiding, and portions of Ya Galaxy are being reassigned to cover other targets within the Empire it falls squarely on the 3rd Jaegers and 5th Sentinels, along with Cobalt Keshik assistance to repel these attackers.

A new addition to the 3rd Jaegers, Star Captain Dwight Radick's 22nd Assault Trinary made a good impression by striking out on their own at the first sight of trouble and ripping a reinforced company of these invaders apart. The brutal counterattack made by the 22nd at a minimum of cost (losing only one warrior to an unfortunate incident involving the head of a Lobo and an ArrowIV missile, and some minor material losses) left little enough in the way of salvage, but a number of the raiders were obtained for our watch assets to interrogate and evaluate.

Unfortunately, the next clash between the 3rd Jaegers and these invaders was not nearly so successful. Star Captain Paterno Carns made a number of errors in his defense of the town of Chiquita, leading to the near total destruction of his binary, and the loss of the Keshik's Independent Operations Group. Only Watch Mechwarrior Christen, as well as St Cpt Paterno Carns, St Cmd Julietta Kerensky, and one other mechwarrior were able to make it off the field, and in the case of Christen, he arrived back at base days later without his Special Model Wulfen, stinking of things best left undescribed.

The loss of Chiquita is a minor but unfortunate blow to operations on Deep Fields and to larger Wolf Empire plans. Located in Chiquita, the invaders have seized control of a food processing plant used to produce combat rations, meals ready to eat, and dehydrated meal packets. Supplying both civilian outdoorsmen and military operations, this plant was being used to produce a stockpile (also located within the city limits) for future wolf operations. Even if retaken, the supplies there will have to be vetted for their safety and integrity, and there is the concern that the plant itsself will be sabotaged, and we will be forced to obtain supplies elsewhere. a food processing plant may seem minor compared to say, munitions or mech parts, but it is important to remember that even among the clans, an army travels on it's belly.

Upon returning to Wolf Empire territory from their raid upon Alhena, two messages were waiting for the warriors of the 15th Assault. The first was that Deep Fields was under attack, but the 3rd, 5th and Deep Fields Garrison Cluster were seen as sufficient to deal with the threat. The second was that word had it that the 15th Assault was making liberal use of mines, and this un-clanlike behavior could not stand. The 15th Assault was challenged to proceed to Solaris to face these allegations and defend themselves in a trial or forswear use of such barbaric weapons henceforth. Prosecuting these allegations are elements of CWF Be Galaxy.

Bidding was brief but vigorous among the commanders of the 15th, but ultimately as the one most slighted, and the one hungriest for the conquest, Jonathan Demos' Rogue Pack Alpha Star faced two stars from Be Galaxy's Platinum Keshik. Due to Nail's aggressive bidding, Jonathan faced 2:1 odds in this fight to uphold their honor. 

The fight took place outside of Solaris City itsself, but was broadcast back to an audience gathered in the new Wolf's Den arena. The Den is an arena-sized holotank which displays fights from anywhere on the planet, no longer limiting mechwarriors to the knife fighting range of a solaris arena.

The first to fall, was a Platinum Keshik Mad Cat II, slain by the Rogue Pack's Mechwarrior Ashley. The Pack's artillerist, Ashley felt the scorn of the enemy mechwarriors and took great joy at dropping the first of their number. However, her jubilation was short-lived as a Tundra Wolf gutted her damaged Dire Wolf. These exchanges marked the start of a bloody chain of dominoes, mech after mech tumbling to the battlefield beneath. Hellstar slugged with Hellstar, pruning each other's weapons away. Jonathan himself felled the haughty Galaxy Commander, one Candra Hall, who brought the charges to bear upon the Fifteenth Assault. Before the Galaxy Commander's executioner could even hit the ground, Rosa slew the Gargoyle that opposed her.

Hungry for more, Jonathan turned his guns on a Keshik Night Gyr A, barely able to retalliate, the Night Gyr was decapitated before the vast majority of it's guns were brought into play. Rosa savaged the Tundra Wolf that took Ashley out of the fight, while the Hellstars withering barrage flayed amror and internals from one another.  At Roughly the same time, Rosa would prevail over her Tundra Wolf foe, as Ludovic finished disassembling the Night Wolf that opposed him. Melody's Hellstar would ultimately triumph over the Platinum Keshik Hellstar piloted by Ristar Nicole Fischer, a particular point of pride on Melody's Codex.

Jonathan's third kill would come after several exchanges of fire with an upgraded Blood Reaper, while Rosa prowled around a Hel, gimping it. Ludovic continued, engaging a Platinum Keshik Orion IIc in honorable combat. His barrage knocked the pilot unconscious, and Ludovic held his fire, allowing his foe a chance to regain his footing. A Large Pulse Laser would peel the armor from the Orion's head, nearly separating Star Commander Ramelan Demos from his life. Cursing that the strike did not kill the star commander, Nail lamented how close he came at another opportunity to fight for a bloodname.

The final kill would come as Rosa finished off the battered hulk that was at one time a Hel, and the 15th's right to utilize whatever munitions they saw fit was upheld.

<Vic> Today we have a dog-eat-dog fight, as the Platinum Keshik of Be Galaxy faces off against Jonathan "The Keshik Killer" Demos' Rogue Pack.

<Kenny> Well the platinum keshik better BE good, eh see what i did there vic? *ignores the groans* The rogue pack has been known to take on some of the best of the best of the rest and keep asking for more. Rumor has it they're in trouble for their use of dezgra like tactics such as mines and arrow IV"

<Vic> They appear to be on their best behavior. I am told that one of the dire wolves usually sports the aforementioned Arrow artillery system, but I see no sign of it here today

<Kenny> My sources tell me she uses a configuration made famous by the HellRaisers when she duels, From what iv been told shes proven she can fight without her ArrowIV system.

<Vic> The Platinum Keshik's Heavy Star appears to be hanging back and letting their larger brethren do the heavy lifting. Prudent tactic, or just opportunism?

<Kenny> We'll they're fighting with Zellbriggen but my hunchs tell me they wanna be as close as they can if they get their turn so they can get in close and dirty. Speaking of dirty! This fight is sponsored by Mr Sparkle Laundry Detergent! If its dirty you can't be flirty! Mr. Sparkle!!

<Vic> The Terrain seems to be slightly holding back the Platinum Keshik's movement, this could play into the Rogue Pack's favor.
 
<Kenny> I was told the platinum Keshik specifically called out the Rogues saying they planned to uphold Keshiks everywheres honor. If the Rogue Pack wins they'll have almost as many wins against Keshiks as I have Nipples

<Vic> I think the code of Zellbrigen is also going to be key to their victory. Unable to concentrate fire, the Rogues do not even have to worry about the heavy star yet.

<Kenny> and ashley gets the first kill of the round! what an awesome exchange, her mechs right arm for her opponents mech!! I also see we have a lot of fans of ashley holding up giant pictures of her are going more insane than my last girlfriend!

<Vic> And there you have it folks, the 15th Assault's Rogue Pack Alpha Star has vanquished two stars of the Platinum Keshik, vindicating through the sacred rite of combat, their right to... pretty much do whatever the hell they please.

In the aftermath of combat, it was revealed that there had been a wager between Star Colonel Katrine Kerensky, and Galaxy Commander Candra Hall. The Hellstar pilot within the Platinum Keshik, the Nicole Fischer whom Mechwarrior Melody humbled was reportedly an old Rival of Rho's now Galaxy Commander Josh Ward. According to sources on the inside, Provided that the Rogue Pack won, the Platinum Keshik would transfer Nicole to Rho's Granite Keshik, in return for a warrior out of Rho. Had the Pack lost, a star of assault mechs, and the pilots to operate them would have been forefiet from Rho's reserves. Fortunately, Katrine's faith in Jonathan and his star was well-placed.

Clan Watch Interrogation Methods yielded the location of the Command Company of the battalion of invaders operating in the 3rd's defensive region of Deep Fields. Following the extracted information, Dwight Radick's Trinary found them operating out of a civilian airfield. They enveloped the enemy commanders, caught off-guard by their sudden approach. Before long, the airfield was in wolf hands once again. Two interesting things were found in the buildings of the airfield, first, they were reunited with the 5 mechwarriors taken prisoner by these invaders. They reported fairly standard interrogation, which was resisted, and rough but not inhumane treatment following their non-compliance. While awaiting the arrival of chemical agents to enhance the interrogation, Dwight's trinary arrived and prevented the interrogation from going any further. None of their mechs were on site, nor did they know what had become of them. Second, it was obvious that extensive modifications had been performed to the communications equipment on site. The nature of these modifications is currently under inspection.

Meanwhile, Star Commander Julietta Kerensky challenged her Star Captain, Paterno Carns, to a Trial of Grievance over his handling of the last battle. Carns knew Julietta's preference for configuring her Arctic Wolf, and spent the entire battle out-ranging her. His Coyotl might have been far older than Julietta's Arctic Wolf II, but it outranged it and the battle did nothing to provide an outlet for her rage. Quite the opposite infact, humiliated by her defeat, frustrated by her inability to land a single solid hit, and worried about her fellow former exiles in enemy hands, Julietta left the trial more enraged than ever at her commander. The return of her men shortly after calmed her somewhat, and won Dwight a good deal of esteem. She remains compliant with Paterno's commands, but her distaste for the man remains evident.

Attacks on CWF Rho's position continue, this time, invaders out of a different battalion launched a raid on one of several strategic caches in place on Deep Fields. An invader assault company ran directly into where Star Colonel Catrin of the 5th Sentinels was defending. Her unit held fast at the choke point, and prevented all but one of the invaders from getting past. Showing little mercy or decency, the invaders executed an unconscious Mechwarrior Teresa in her atlas, sending the 5th Sentinels into a frenzy. The courtesy the invaders showed was repaid in kind, the company was ground to dust.

Save for one unit. A Phoenix Hawk IIc 7 had broken past the defenders and made a break for the strategic cache. Catarin dispatched her best gunner, Mechwarrior Lou, to pursue it. a grueling firefight ensued, wherein the Phoenix Hawk ran amok within the cache, setting half of it ablaze. Lou strove hard to hunt down the enemy mechwarrior, but the superior agility of the mech denied Lou many good shots at him. The enemy saboteur even lured Lou into position for an exploding fuel tank to batter his mech in a hellish fireball. Dark smoke choked the skies, a black flag denoting the wolves failure to successfully defend their cache. Even summoning a pair of recon VTOLs proved insufficient to end this reign of flame and terror.

Havoc sown, ammunition running low, the Phoenix Hawk IIc found itsself facing the Hellstar's guns. After the first satisfying salvo  he was able to land, Lou offered the battered mech a chance to surrender honorably and submit to a bondcord. Despite how terrible they looked after this spree, despite the loss of their comrade, Lou felt that something could be salvaged if they could make this warrior a part of their clan. But the warrior declined the surrender, claiming Ghost Bear blood in his veins. He would only submit to the bondcord if he was shot down.

Lou obliged.

At the end of the day, with over 50% of the supply cache lost, no one was calling this a success. But, there was a silver lining to the immense smoky cloud that hung over the 5th Sentinels. Gill, their new bondsman, was willing to talk. They now had the location of the Republic Dropships that brought them to this planet. They now had confirmation that the raiding force was infact, republic troops from inside the Fortress as they suspected. They did not have the secret of bypassing the fortress wall, but they had confirmation that it was permeable.

Rumor has it that there is tension between Catarin and Lou over the issue of his new bondsman, that she is concerned he only capitulated in order to continue sabotage of the wolf position here on Deep Fields. The name "Judith Faber" may have come up in the ensuing discussion. It seems likely that Gill will primarily work for Lou, until he can prove himself worthy of having his cord severed. Lou points to the information provided, and his insistence on defeat as proof that the clan way is bred true within him, even if he is the product of a bear enclave within the republic.

Mechwarrior Profile

In the wake of the Refusal War, Clans Wolf and Jade Falcon both launched a series of trials of possession upon other clans, in order that they might rebuild their shattered toumans. Nicole Fischer is the descendant of a line that traces its incorporation into Clan Wolf back to that time. Nicole's bloodline originated in Clan Blood Spirit, though they hold it non-exclusively, with Fischer warriors in Clan Jade Falcon as well. Her ancestor was harvested, and performed so well that she was allowed to trial the spirits for her breeding rights, a trial which succeeded.

The non-exclusivity of the bloodline allowed for it's continuance after the homeworlds were lost to us. Not a prominent bloodhouse, most of its warriors reside within Clan Jade Falcon. Nicole's own bloodname was won from the hands of a falcon, against falcons infact. This has made her something of a target, and if her identity on the battlefield is known, Clan Jade Falcon warriors have been known to target her, in an attempt to either capture or eliminate her and bring the bloodname home.

She has known Galaxy Commander Josh Ward since their sibko days. From the earliest, there has been an intense rivalry between them. We have the story from Katrine Kerensky, another long-time associate of the Galaxy Commander's. According to Star Colonel Kerensky, the rivalry dates back to an inter-sibko exercise in their teen years. Josh's Sibko class was pitted against Nicole's in what was to be a simulated mech battle utilizing outdated training mechs. Reportedly the battle turned unusually fierce for a sibko exercise, and wishing to see how fiercely their students would fight, their trainers did not step in to interrupt. The simulated battle grew rough when one of Nicole's starmates grew frustrated by the damage that had disabled their weapons. Instead of retreating as ordered, they rushed Josh's star, knocking unconscious one of Josh's starmates with a punch. Before the instructors could disable the punching mech, combined fire from Josh's star had disabled it through simulated fire.

But the fight did not end there, it spilled from the cockpits of the training hulks onto the grassy field below. The bluster of their trainers went unheeded as an all-out brawl consumed the two stars. It only ended after the offending mechwarrior who threw the first punch was unable to fight any further, and training staff finally reached the fracas. Reportedly it was difficult to tell who had been beaten harder, Josh or Nicole. Both required medical attention before their training could continue, and all involved were punished for how out-of-hand the melee got, including the trainers for letting things spiral out that far. New trainers were brought in, and attempts were made at socializing the two sibkos with one another, but tensions ran high, and even an attempt to encourage coupling between the sibkos as a bonding exercise nearly spilled over into another fracas. Ultimately, the two sibkos had to be kept apart during their training until they graduated.

Star Colonel Kerensky added, that Galaxy Commander Ward mentioned several other encounters with Fischer over the life of his career, varying from attempts to out-do one another to tense cooperation towards a common goal. They do not get along well, but neither are they enemies. Each encounter, she added, whether a friendly trial or competitive coupling, only seems to spur each of them on, adding to their desire to best the other.

With her reassignment from Be Galaxy over to Rho Galaxy, as part of Josh's Cobalt Keshik, it remains to be seen how they will work together once the 15th Assault returns from Solaris with her in tow. To capitalize on her sharpshooting strengths, a warhawk salvaged by Rho is being outfitted for her use. She will be assigned to the Independant Operations Group within the Keshik, warriors commonly dispatched to bolster other forces, work on behalf of Rho's Watch contingent, or back up the main star of the Keshik on the battlefield.

Warrior Profile

Star Captain John Kerensky exists in defiance of conventional wisdom about elementals and command positions. Most do not expect Elementals to rise high in the ranks of command, nor demonstrate prowess at command. He also defies the recent notion that the bloodhouse of Kerensky is in some sort of decline. The crafty nature and mind for command has bred true in John, and he has fought hard for his place in the clan. Noting that Elementals bred from general bloodlines rarely had a shot at claiming a bloodname, and taking advantage of the fact that he was on the small side for an elemental, he cross-trained in his spare time, learning to pilot a mech from the mechwarriors he served with. When he fought for his bloodname, he was able to keep his foes off balance by fighting in a mech, rather than a suit of elemental armor. He also successfully refused the notion that an elemental MUST fight in a suit of battle armor if they choose to fight augmented.

The Unit he commands is technically a binary composed of a mech/battle armor nova and a mech star. He has fought hard to keep his nova composed of omnimechs so that his fellow elementals may ride upon them. Despite his cunning and suitability for command, he has no design on wresting control of the 3rd from Star Colonel Andreus Sender. Watch Psychologists suspect that this is due to the lackluster reputation of the 3rd Jaegers. Plainly put, he sees himself destined for better things and higher ranks, and does not see the path to glory as leading through command of the Jeagers.

Due to his cross-training in mech piloting, his point has become proficient in recovering or liberating mechs.

Mechwarrior Profile

Star Captain Jonathan Demos has rapidly distinguished himself as one of the deadliest mechwarriors in Clan Wolf. He has moved from star command beneath Katrine Kerensky, up to commanding the assault trinary that he wrested from Martin Carns, which he has aggressively pushed for expansion into the most unusual nova that Clan Wolf has seen. Citing apparent precedent within the Hell's Horses and backing it up with his skill and firepower, Jonathan has forged his assault trinary into an Assault Supernova consisting of Mechs and Vehicles. With a star of Huitzilopochtli "AAA" variants, he brings innate artillery support back to the 15th Assault Cluster. Some have suggested that his Supernova is really a short cluster. Galaxy Commander Ward has debated attaching some elementals and aerospace assets and spinning it off into it's own cluster.

Due to his friendships with Galaxy Commander Josh Ward, Star Colonel Katrine Kerensky and Star Colonel Catarin, within the galaxy he is afforded nearly as much status and respect as if he were infact a Star Colonel. He has fought to expand his bloodhouse, earn Rho Galaxy it's proper supply allotment, earn Ya Galaxy official status, and defend Rho's use of alternative munitions and unconventional tactics. He and his unit have also taken a number of high profile bondsmen, in particular the former falcon saKhan Ryan Pryde and Mark Malthus from the Falcons' Turkina Keshik. Most recently he has brought to Rho Galaxy, Nicole Fischer, a rival of the galaxy commander. Not exactly a bondswoman, she retains warrior status but the situation is similar.

Of course, all of this prestige and power concentrated in one place guarantees that when the time comes to cry the hunt, his Supernova will bear the brunt of the 15th's burden, at the forefront of the fiercest fighting they encounter.

Attacks against 5th Sentinel Positions continue, resulting in what could have heralded the loss of the 5th's Security Trinary. Only a lucky disabling shot against the strike force leader (Believed to be a Republic Knight) bought them the chance to depart intact. Facing what would have been a bloody battle that would have decimated both units, the intruder's leader offered hegira to the security trinary. Normally, Star Captain Meltem(Dezgra) would never have approved this, but he was out of the battle, and unconscious when the time came. Star Commander Ismigul(Sohlama) accepted the chance to extract the unit, remaining mechs intact. The loss of the supply cache is mourned, but it is hoped that it shall be reclaimed.

a Headhunting unit, sized like a clan star and equipped with clan mechs, challenged the Cobalt Keshik to a fight. a brief yet brutal exchange occurred, with our Keshik coming out on top with three mechs still operational (if damaged) and no members of the assaulting force still capable of fighting. The only significant loss to the Keshik was Mechwarrior Urraca's Mist Lynx (which had not been working out well) This marks Urraca's second significant loss in not terribly many combats. Some have begun to wonder if he might find himself removed from the Keshik posting and find himself attached to a different unit if this keeps up. A Wulfen has been requisitioned to replace the Mist Lynx, The Galaxy Commander wishes to have a mobile scouting element in his star.

"Master Technician, come look at this." Technician Connor beckoned his chief over to take a look at the Orion IIc they had salvaged today.

"If this is about the smell, I assure you. One of our Extended Range Particle Cannons leaves nothing remaining of the former pilot. It is copper conduit you smell, not blood." Master Technician Ted replied with a sigh

"That is a comfort to know, but it is not what I have found. There is something wrong with this Orion."

"Yes Connor, the head is gone, and the right arm will require some attention as well. So why are you poking into the torso access?"

"Verification, Sir. The Diagnostic Suite complained of an unexpected engine, so I began investigating."

"Engines are replaced all the time, Connor. This one met some misfortune, that is all."

"It is NOT all, Founders damn it. The hatches are not right. The Structure within looks all wrong. I KNOW the Orion IIc, I passed my exams on one. Orion IIcs do not have a Vlar 300 class fusion plant, they have a Heavy Force 300. And look upon the support beam here. This is the same blend of Endo Steel utilized in that stravag quirky Savage Wolf prototype that Star Captain Ritter has claimed."

"Just what are you saying here, Connor? What does it matter what this Orion IIc has been repaired with? For it to be in hands other than a Wolf's, it would have had to have been repaired before."

"Respectfully, Master Technician, I do not think so. I believe this Orion IIc has never left the bounds of the inner sphere."

"Do you think that the Exiles have begun producing it? That would explain the non-standard parts. Look there, That bit of conduit is consistent with what we have found in many of these lyran caches..."

"I do not know what it signifies or who could be responsible, Master Tech, but I think we ought to investigate it."

"We have mechs to repair. We do not care where they come from. Do your job, restore the orion to operation."

"Aff Master Technician, I shall do my duty."

Connor did his duty, it was just that he had a different idea of what constituted duty than did the master technician. Returning to his portable terminal, he began composing a message.

In battle today, Galaxy Commander Ward brought down an Orion IIc that hints at something the clan at large may wish to bring its attention to. I have reason to believe this Orion IIc was produced somewhere other than strana mechty. The parts are almost entirely non-standard, and largely of spheroid or Sea Fox origin. The serial numbers do not conform to the schema employed on other equipment produced by the exiles. I believe someone should be made aware of this, and believe that your watch unit is the appropriate place to begin.

Twice now, the 5th sentinels have clashed with a warrior that they have identified only as "Connor". Piloting a new model of omnimech that previous salvage indicates is known as "Doloire". Appearing to be the leader of the force that decimated Meltem's Security Trinary, it was a surprise when he turned up weeks later, challenging whatever champion the 5th sentinels cared to name for information pertaining to mechs that had been lost in an earlier attack on Deep Fields.

Star Captain Ritter took up the challenge, meeting him in one of the 5th's better equipped heavy mechs, a customized Savage Wolf Prototype. Connor lured him in, almost feigning weakness or timidity. Ritter responded as befits a wolf, and moved to cull him, but found himself in Connor's trap. deadly accurate thanks to AES and packing quite a punch, Ritter took both barrels from a pair of capacitor-enhanced clan spec particle cannons. Wounded but not out, Ritter pursued his foe, the both of their mechs bleeding all over the site of the trial, until a near simultaneous takedown.

Ritter acknowleged his foe's skill and made the call that if he did not tell him anything, these probes would plague every cache they had, and informed Connor that there was no three-legged mech exceeding 100 tons in mass anywhere on Deep Fields. He also allowed Connor his freedom and to retain possession of his omnimech, stating that he enjoyed the battle and if he took either or both as isorla (as was his right) there would be no hope for a rematch.

Mechwarrior Profile:

Mechwarrior Rosa is one of the single angriest warriors in Rho Galaxy.  Her good days are described as tempestuous at best, and on a bad day it is said that one can anticipate her coming by the way that lower caste members suddenly find themselves needing an actuator wrench they left across the compound, or remembering an urgent medical appointment, or a hotplate left on in their quarters. Not to her face, but it has been remarked that this phenomenon resembles remarkably the way that animals are seen to behave before an earthquake.

Though any who invoke the comparison to her face risk an impromptu trial of grievance for their observation, her demeanor has been compared to Joanna Jade Falcon in her younger years. Rosa is a mechwarrior filled with hate, driven by it, heated white hot by its intensity. As it seems to be working for her, no one has done anything to change this. The author of this database entry doubts that we could find a medtech foolhardy enough to attempt any manner of therapy. She freely remarks on these matters of her hate, expressing her passionate displeasure at everything from how "rho galaxy is just sitting on deep fields, waiting for something" to the insufficiency of the mess hall provisions, or even "the way Star Captain Conners keeps looking at her."

There WAS concern for this personality quirk, when the leadership of the Assault Trinary passed from Martin Carns to Jonathan Demos. Rosa appeared ready to foment revolt within the trinary and sieze her deposed star captain's position for herself.  The late Martin Carns was one of her few allies in the world, and one of the few humans to whom she has ever been observed being pleasant. Fortunately for Star Captain Demos, his success in leadership has won her over. She is not necessarily PLEASANT, but she appears to respect and unhesitatingly obey her commander now that she has been won over.

This rage inside her manifests two ways on the battlefield, first a tendency to be an implacable foe and pursuer. Fleeing from her seems to generate more contempt than shooting at her ever could, and she is prone to pursue a damaged foe to it's destruction. Wagers exist on whether or not she remembers Hegira is even a concept. Secondly, she has been known to slip into a state of hyper focus in which she excels at targeting multiple foes.

Though one might not believe it after a write-up such as this, she has been observed to display a softer side. Not to humans, mind you, but to animals. Particularly animals of canine or similar makeup, she has been known to share her rations with local strays she encounters, and has even been observed administering first aid to injured strays. Due to her clan obligations she does not keep a pet, preferring to befriend whatever she encounters at a posting.

Despite the previously mentioned lack of ambition to seize higher rank, Katrine has found herself thrust into a command position. Though she feared that rising to a command rank would mean fewer opportunities for combat (and it has, compared to her position as a Star Captain) she has proven worthy of the rank. The 15th Assault has not suffered under her command, already accustomed to a high degree of independence and autonomy under Josh Ward, Katrine has continued this tradition. Transfers in from other units might find the relative independence she allows beneath her command a little unusual, but thus far it has meant a minimum of the politics, drama and headache that she feared the command would represent. With her in command, the 15th Assault might make an ideal unit for missions requiring a cluster to work alongside a spheroid unit. The relaxed governance should minimize the friction with unclanlike partners.

She seems to reassure herself that all signs point to the Clan aiming for an assault either on Terra or on major targets within the Lyran Commonwealth or Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone, and regardless of which they wind up targeting, the Fifteenth will be at the forefront of the fight, with plenty of glory to go around, from the lowliest mechwarrior all the way up to the commanding ranks.

Katrine has continued to pilot a classic Timber Wolf Omnimech, passing up chances to operate both a Savage Wolf and a Warwolf. Her fondness for the design is likely a large factor in why the 15th Assault and elements of the 3rd took it upon themselves to appropriate the Galatean Jade Hawk plant. Privately both Katrine and her galaxy commander have been warned against future adventurism of this sort, though due to the success of the mission, no punishment was issued.

Engaging in combat with representatives of Clan Sea Fox, Star Commander Alexis Ward and her star fought to win the specifications, schematics and code to produce the Khan Series Type 6c Communications Suite. Utilized on the Savage Wolf produced by Clan Sea Fox, this commsuite is an evolution of the suite employed by the Timber Wolf Omnimech, and Rho Galaxy desired it for their efforts in reestablishing production of the Timber Wolf on solaris. Additionally, once production begins on the slightly-modified Khan Series Type 6r Suite, Rho Galaxy Warwolves and handbuilt Timber Wolves will receive an upgrade to the Khan Series Type 6r.

The battle was an orderly affair, in which Zellbrigen was cleanly observed by both sides, and hegira was granted to both a Sea Fox stormcrow and grand summoner, and Rho Galaxy's losses were heavy damage to a Sun Cobra chassis, and a close call that nearly slew Yohannes in his Tundra Wolf. The head of said Tundra Wolf will require replacing, and Yohannes is recuperating from the close call.

Keshik-attached Gunslinger, Mechwarrior Nicole Fischer was defeated in a duel with a Clan Sea Fox warrior, in a bid to sweeten the pot with the Savage Wolf's Series XIV OPT Targeting and Tracking Suite. Attributing the failure in part to the borrowed Executioner F in place of her still-being-restored Warhawk, it was never the less an underwhelming debut for Nicole within Rho Galaxy.

With her loss, the plans for the Series XIV OPT T&T Suite are out of reach. However, Clan Sea Fox is offering a reasonably acceptable deal on obtaining the Series V OPT suite, formerly used on the Linebacker. This is still an upgrade from the Series III OPT on the original Timber Wolf, yet directly compatible. Reportedly, these schematics and examples come from the destroyed Arc Royal linebacker production line.
