I will pledge $50 USD
Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,      Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
The hour when earth's foundations fled,         They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
Followed their mercenary calling,               What God abandoned, these defended,
And took their wages, and are dead.             And saved the sum of things for pay.

Hello all!

First off, I want to thank everyone for humoring my own little evil schemes :D

With that I have always thought the Hellspawn mini was too small and it didn't match what the MechWarrior 4 model looked like (which is the basis for the TRO Art).

With that, I cooked up this little monster.  Please excuse my so-so to poor painting skills:

Now this isn't the final scaling, but it will be close.  The idea is to make the mini look squarely at 45 tons, compared to the same size as the 25ton arbalest.  The prototype here was initially based off of some MW4 concept art, hence the extra missile launcher.

Here is an image of the model, as it currently stands:

If you want to see some of the source art that I used in the project and some work in progress models, you can take a look at this album over on Photobucket:
 http://s1132.photobucket.com/user/mccross90/library/Hellspawn?sort=3&page=1

Anyway, I want to thank all the Fundicators in advanced and I'm looking forward to making this thing a reality!

Looking good Stinger! Are the legs with feet going to be one piece?

I am in for $75.

I am glad you like it!!

Legs are a little bit in the air right now.  As modeled, they are upper leg/lower leg, but most of my asking around has proven people don't care for that style.

I'll work with the IWM QCC to work out final details.

You know I'm one of those rare fans of multipart legs.  I will say that if the decision is made to make each leg one part, add a bit of a bend in it, and at least make the feet separate.

My personal favorite are upper/lower/foot, provided the knee joint is a broad surface contact hinge joint.  I mean, if my opinion matters for anything. :D

Stinger, if you are going single piece feet/legs, then please don't put them in "parade rest". A simple walking pose is fine.

Alternatively, have one base/foot/leg/waist piece, with the leg slightly bent, and then you can go freeform on the other foot - running, walking, standing, whatever, without the hassle of trying to assemble two multi-part legs.

I like multi part legs. I have a saw though, so I can see to any issues with a leg I don't like.

I'll go in for $25

Stinger can the doors over the torso missile launcher be attached in a closed position? (i.e. can the modeler choose open vs. closed?)

Yep! The door is a separate piece.

Current part out:

2x Lower Legs (Tenative)
2x upper Legs (Tenative)
1x Hips
2x Arms
1x Torso
1x Missile Door
1x Missile Launcher
1x Sensor Cluster

No feet? Sorry, if you're making upper & lower legs separate, but the feet are a) fixed to a base, not listed, or b) fixed to the lower legs, then - and with all due respect - that doesn't help the expert modder, and it certainly doesn't help the less skilled.

See also Reseen Thud - a complex mess of upper & lower legs forced into an awkward & difficult to assemble pose by fixed feet on base.

Next thing you know he will start a land war in Asia, or go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

Anywho, there are a couple styles that, personally, have worked out the most easily for me. A one piece leg with a bit of bend in the knee and separate feet are pretty useful and easy to deal with. The most recent shadowhawk with its mega-leg attached to the base and hip and the separate leg was easy and pretty useful as well. The Thor II legs, which I think you did worked ok for me as well. If you only get two pieces for the legs, I'm not sure if I,would prefer whole leg and foot, or upper leg and lower leg with attached foot. I think the latter. For whatever reason, I personally have. Harder time posing feet that are cast with the lower leg than I do adjusting one-piece legs. Other folks may feel differently.

Personally, I prefer the parade attention/at ease stance over the in-action running/walking poses. I know it might seem "inconceivable" to some but remember I am from Australia and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals  ^-^

I find that the the parade attention/at ease stance makes the miniature look more like a chess-piece (well it is a token in a game of armoured combat  :) ) and makes the miniature much easier to store/transport. I do not have a problem with the principle of multi part legs that allow for stances to be customised as long as the part count/size is kept down to a reasonable number.
Incoming fire has the right of way.

The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.

Always remember that your weapon was built by the lowest bidder.

I guess I can chip in $50 to help the cause.

I think Stinger did a great job on the sculpt/render, I just don't have a deep need to more Chimera minis.
