Overview
The Rasalhague Dominion's new Jotnar Class Assault Dropship was designed to carry two K-1C Dropshuttles so act as runabouts to ferry supplies and replacement crew to the Jotnar.  Although the K-1C ticked all the right boxes for its intended role on the Jotnar, it soon became apparent that it did not have a big enough cargo capacity to move supplies efficiently, so the same team that designed the Jotnar were compelled to redesign the K-1C in order to better serve their main design.  The end result was named the K-1D (for Dominion, and also since D comes after C).

Capabilities
The main difference between the K-1C and K-1D was the removal of the K-1C's 6 extra steerage quarters and replacing it with a 5 ton infantry bay as a way to ferry any replacement crew to and from the Jotnar.  All crew quarters, even the Officer's, have also been downgraded to steerage quality in order to save even more mass at the expense of some of the K-1D crew's comfort, fuel was also reduced by 10 tons, though heat sinks were increased from 10 double heat sinks to 16 double heat sinks.  Standard armor was also upgraded to Ferro-Aluminium so that the K-1D has a slightly thicker hide than the K-1C even though it's armor mass is one ton lighter overall.  The Medium Pulse Lasers were downgraded to ER Medium Lasers, though the Forward and Aft ER Medium Lasers were soon replaced with ER PPCs, and three Anti-Missile Systems and an Angel ECM Suite can now be found.  All these changes allowed the K-1D to carry up to 51 tons of cargo, enough to replenish the Jotnar's 1,250 ton cargo bay in about 12 to 13 trips from a nearby base or port of call by two K-1Ds.

Deployment
Primarily deployed to the Dominion's new Jotnar Class Assault Dropship, the K-1D has slowly spread among private civilian transport operators looking for a small yet relatively tough Dropshuttle with a big cargo capacity.

A useful little shuttle and cargo boat for sure, performance wise she's not great but the cargo capacity and solid construction will make her a nice intra-system craft and if needs be you could probably convert that cargo bay into space for Elementals turning this tough little tub into a passable assault shuttle too.  Only thing I might suggest is drop the aft PPC, and put that into a bit more space for cargo or improve the number of passengers it can carry.  You also reduce the heat burden by a massive amount.

I considered that, but I liked the symetry and the ability to give a fighter giving chase a bloody nose for its trouble.

That's a nice looking shuttle, but its more aerodyne than spheroid though.
