A lot of what you can do with the
Eagle has already been done with the
Transgressor, but that new ‘mercenary’ upgrade intrigues me. It really does. Now, I don’t deny that the ERPPC gives the thing a potent combination of range and punch, but it also does... unfortunate things for the heat-balance. I’d like a bird that can deliver the punch of all three of its main guns into Medium range without worrying about flying out of control, anti-tail-gater weapons would also be useful, and additional armour-protection is rarely a bad thing, so let’s see what we can do....

Granted, you lose the ‘ten-point punch’ of the PPC, and a fraction of crit-seeking capability in a Strafe or Strike attack, but you keep your hitting range, and your new ability to engage with all your Medium-range ordnance without broiling in your cockpit is arguably better for your longevity. Not to mention that if someone starts gnawing on your tail like a hound-dog, you can give him two ERMLs’ worth of rolled-up newspaper.
