RFP for the Draconis Combine

Vessel may not exceed 240,000 tons

Vessel may not mount armament larger than sub-capital weapons

Vessel must be Jump Capable.

Vessel must be capable of defeating up to 3 Mule PWS in combat.

Vessel must have a cruise duration of no less than 18 months between refueling/restocking stops.

Vessel must be as inexpensively built as practical.

The envisioned role is for a long-duration, deep penetration picket and raider type vessel  with a secondary role as an escort ship for larger vessels or convoy escort for mid to large scale offensive landing operations.

My take on an Inazuma Mk. II.  Conventional weapons left in place, single AMS upgraded to triple Laser AMS, naval PPCs swapped for banks of SCLs, and NACs swapped for SCCs.  Thrust remains 5/8, fuel bunker remains 5000 tons but, with 18000 tons of cargo, it's easy enough to carry supplemental fuel and supplies for over 18 months cruising.

I still maintain that a dropship and PWS are more effective in this sort of role.  Still, I've designed a...thing.  About half the listed maximum weight, loaded down with cheap AMS systems because look, all you need to do is make sure the enemy can never hit you with a PWS' missile armaments.

ETA: Oh my god it's morning and I've realized how badly under-equipped this thing is to have actual immunity to Mule PWS fire.  I don't need 4-5 AMS to neutralize Killer whale fire, I think I need 16-48 depending on if I expect to take all the waves in the same arc.  I'm still not using Laser AMS because heat and expense.
